Anthony Mackie stated that he didn’t want to represent America while playing Captain America. Americans agreed. In one of the saddest milestones in the Disney IP slop factory,Captain America: Brave New World discovered its own brave new world as it passed or maybe more accurately crawled across the $200 million mark by taking in $35,000 this weekend.
No, I didn’t drop any zeroes. That was the weekend take in what looks like 21st place.
Disney’s Snow White fell to 14th place.
All of this is bound to freak out Disney investors. The company usually rules the summer box office and it’s off to a bad start. If Thunderbolts or Fantastic Four underperform, expect pressure for a major turnaround to mount. Disney has bet everything on IP tentpole movies and two of those just bombed. If its Marvel IP shows even clearer signs of viewer fatigue, then Disney’s summer is over before it began. And after the summer, Tron isn’t going to bail things out, Avatar 300 will no doubt make money, but those billions won’t make up for lost billions.
Schadenfreude strikes again 🙂
Yes, the “Thunderbolts” and “Fantastic Four” movies are going to flop. I’m a comic geek and I’ve watched the previews so I know. (Too bad for Thunderbolts. The guy who plays Red Star is likable.)
“:The Thunderbolts” movie is based on the worst version of that franchise and feminized at that, and the “Fantasic Four” version is woke as fuck.
Both movies will flop. The idiots at the studios are too stupid to break barriers and make innovative movies like “The X-Men’ way back in 2000 or “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” whenever that came out. (Best superhero movie ever.)
Retards.
First, the movie came out over 2 months ago. So, it falling to 21st means what exactly?
Second, the move more than doubled its investment. That is assuming you can trust the numbers.,
That said maybe given the right writing and attitude it could have made 3 to 5 times its investment, so the producers, writers and actor left money on the table that could have been theres if they had been better people..
February 14, 2025 (United States)
Budget $180 million
Box office $414.8 million

Enjoy a shitty film with an America hating lead.
What, you actually using Wikipedia?
414. > 18o
I did not say that I like the movie or the lead actor.
All I pointed out was the movie was profitable, but that if they had done it right (i.e. pro-American), it would have been more profitable
1) Theaters keep about half of the box office. That 414 is now a bit over 207.
2) The budget likely doesn’t include the almost a month of reshooting they had to do.
3) The budget also generally doesn’t include marketing and other post-production expenses.
In the end, it will likely show a profit. They haven’t even started DVD/Blu-Ray and streaming income yet.
Yeah, Weakapedia. A very reliable source.
Captain black flopped.
Wow. Incredibly deep and insightful analysis – “those billions won’t make up for lost billions.” Thank the Lord for Greenfield.
There is just no way your incredibly simplistic communist mind could contemplate the concept of “billions of dollars”
Hey misnamed Intrepid, who is demonstrably too much of a coward to tell us where he’s from and what his accomplishments are: why don’t you refute his assertion by giving us accurate numbers?
I’ll bet you thought Dinesh D’Souza’s 2000 Mules was accurate. Maybe you’ll share with us whether or not D’Souza has subsequently admitted that some of his claims about election fraud were faulty. (But hey, everyone already knew that, right?)
Someone who offers numbers to refute an assertion has to be a Communist. Got it! Were you the inventor of participation medals so that you so that you could get something from your discussion participation?
Have you done research yet so you can criticize my athletic achievements? (The Cranberries sing in the background “In your head, in your head, Intrepid, Intrepid.”)
I bet chicks laugh at the diminutive size of your Johnson.
Thank the Lord you’ll never breed.
No doubt it ‘made’ money.
Thanks to Disney fudging the accounting.
Anyone still supporting Disney needs to report to the ‘braindead’ reprogramming center immediately.
Meanwhile those in the right-wing echo chamber … have seen so much garbage from Disney …
… they’re starting to claim Walt Disney invented pedophilia –
– maybe in 1619 or something like that.
They should have just called it Captain Liberia.
Why waste your money and gasoline to go see a movie? It’s kinda dumb to spend the time and effort go see a movie that will likely disappoint you. The smart (and cheap) thing to do is wait a few months and it’ll be available via the internet for free!
What’s a good streaming site? The ones I use don’t work on my Samsung TV any more but do work on my laptop.
I know it’s a TV thing but it’s frustrating.
As Goofy might have said, “Gawrsh!”
Goofy also said THRES SOMETHING WRONG HERE
IT CAME, IT’S GOING AND I PASSED.
Disney remains dead to me.
I watched most of “A Gentleman in Moscow” the show was pretty good, but for some bizarre reason they had a black Russian named Dmitry. The character Dmitry was not an American expatriate fellow travel, no he was supposed to be an ethnic Russian. I could suspend disbelief for a black Captain American, but not for Dmitry.
I will gladly watch the movie when my local library carries it.
