That has always been the problem–Leftists are generally “True Believers” who can be counted on to continue to be Leftists after they are appointed.
The Right has never been that solid.
What we should be doing is have the current reliably conservative Justices, like Thomas for example, pick their own replacements and get them appointed while we have the votes to do it.
Trump should have never appointed a woman. They are ruled by their emotions, are weak, and naive to human nature.
Justice Barrett is comfortable in the middle.
If another conservative were to wind up on the court in place of a retirement or a malignant cancer or something, she would get be tugged a skoach towards the conservative end of the spectrum.
The problem will be replacing the elderly Justice Thomas with a nominee from Generation X.
