The plan to save Iran is pretty bipartisan with Democrats tearing up with a small number of Republicans, and extremist online influencers getting together to warn against taking out Iran’s underground nuclear reactor.
Sen. Schumer initially issued an incoherent statement that didn’t actually take a position on anything that was going on, but expressed its support for both Israel defending itself and a deal wth Iran and promised to closely monitor further developments.
Then Schumer signed on to a statement by 5 senators, claiming that, “Intensifying military actions between Israel and Iran represent a dangerous escalation that risks igniting a broader regional war” and warning President Trump that they would not ‘rubberstamp’ any action (short of a deal with Iran that lets it keep its nuclear program) and declared that, “congress is an equal partner in preserving and defending U.S. national security around the world, and Congress has not provided authorization for military action against Iran – we will not rubberstamp military intervention that puts the United States at risk. Our foremost duty is to safeguard American citizens wherever they reside and to protect our troops serving on the front lines. The United States cannot sleepwalk into a third war in as many decades. Congress has a critical role to play in this moment.”
What’s funny is you can see that virtually identical rhetoric among some woke rights influencers online.
At this point, Schumer’s reputation in the Jewish community has long since become a joke, but it’s still worth noting that he signed on to a letter opposed to bombing Iran’s nuclear reactor and keeps claiming that the only answer is a “diplomatic solution”.
