The civil rights scholar Kenneth Marcus has just appeared before a Congressional committee hearing on “America’s Battle Against Antisemitic Terror.” His testimony on the seemingly inexorable rise of violent antisemitism across the land is blood-curdling. More about Marcus, and his plea for congressional action, together with chilling examples of antisemitism, can be found here: “Jewish Civil Rights Scholar Urges US Congress to Respond to Antisemitism Crisis,” by Dion J. Pierre, Algemeiner, June 27, 2025:
Civil rights scholar Kenneth Marcus on Tuesday implored US lawmakers to recognize rising antisemitic violence as the civil rights issue of this era and enact a robust policy response to it before the country is irreparably harmed.
Marcus, who is chairman of the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law and served as assistant secretary for civil rights in the George W. Bush administration’s Education Department, made the remarks during a US House hearing titled “Rising Threat: America’s Battle Against Antisemitic Terror.” Joined by other prominent Jewish civil rights activists, including Debra Cooper of the End Jew Hatred nonprofit, he stressed the urgency of what has become an unprecedented crisis.
“In 2025, Jewish Americans are under attack in our schools, places of work, health care settings, and on the streets of our major cities,” Marcus wrote in testimony shared with The Algemeiner. “In April, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s residence was set ablaze on the first night of Passover, targeted for being both Jewish and a vocal supporter of Israel. Here in DC, two Israeli Embassy staffers were brutally gunned down outside the Capital Jewish Museum by a man shouting, ‘Free Palestine.’”
He continued, “This violence is not occurring a vacuum. It is the product of a dangerous convergence of anti-Zionist extremism, support for designated foreign terrorist groups such as Hamas, and institutional complacency across key sectors of American life.”…
In Boston last week, anti-Israel activists targeted Israeli consulate staff by distributing a threatening flyer which included their pictures and names. One of the targeted officials, Consul General Benjamin Sharoni, issued a statement, saying that the flyer “is bullying, it is an intimidation, and a call to hostile action.” Meanwhile, the New England office of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) said “it is deeply troubling in the current climate, where anti-Israel incitement has directly led to the brutal murder of two Israeli embassy staff members.”
As previously reported by The Algemeiner, the American Jewish community has been battered by antisemitic hate incidents throughout the country, forcing law enforcement to stay hot on the trails of those who perpetrate them amid a wave of recent outrages.
Last Tuesday, the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland announced that it charged Florida native Jackson Traylor, 26, with sending baleful antisemitic messages which alluded to Nazism and the Holocaust. If convicted of the crimes, he could spend up to two years in federal prison.
“Go burn in an oven like your ancestors,” Traylor allegedly texted his victim. “Burn in a god damn oven … Stupid Jew … Hey, Jew, been a while since we spoke. Let me burn you alive like your ancestors Hail Hitler.”…
Only two years? For invoking Hitler and threatening a new Holocaust? The law punishing this level of antisemitic hate speech obviously needs to be strengthened.
Marcus said on Tuesday that Congress must act to make a difference.
“Congress should consider additional measures to address this crisis,” he said. “Congress should, for example, require that courts and agencies consider whether an institution has stated its compliance with applicable federal laws and executive orders, including especially President [Donald] Trump’s Executive Order 13899 when determining whether their responses to anti-Semitism constitute ‘deliberate indifference’ to discrimination and harassment under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.”
Kenneth Marcus’ suggestions are sensible. It is not the full-throated embrace of antisemitism of some, but rather, the “deliberate indifference” of the many to that peculiar pathology that allows it to “grow in the dark” and to be ignored until it threatens to undo the social fabric. We are not there yet, says Marcus, but only if Congress now acts. Let facts be submitted to a candid world, about every aspect of antisemitism in our country, including especially the role of Muslim migrants in its spread, and of foreign governments, with Qatar at their head as the owner of the antisemitic channel Al Jazeera, that has been allowed to spread its venom from sea to shining sea unopposed.
I am neither indifferent to the n°___rs of the Congressional Black Caucus, nor anyone (including the k°_es) of the Congressional Progressive Caucus
Both are serious leeches. seeking to live off the product of the labor of others.
We live in a country where many have been easily brainwashed and for whom their allegience to group-think turns their loyalties with the changing of the wind.
When there is this type of insidious affiliation and the hatred of Jews has become a virtual-signaling, blood- libelous trope, it is way past time to vigorously address it in clear, legally enforceable federal laws that function without subservience to local and state laws and group-think whims.
Peaceful protests DO NOT include the use of murder, violence, defamation and property destruction, However, one only need look left to see the ever-growing assimilation of violence as an ideologically-driven means of culturally intimidating and destroying those refusing to adhere to these totalitarian tenants.
Additionally, we currently have Islamists in our Congress, who are vocal, vehement antisemites, and this should speak volumes in recognizing this infiltration and the slow “normalization” of hatred toward an entire group of people. The halls of Congress must return to being UPHOLDERS of our Constitution and the rights enumerated therein that are inalienable coming from G-d and not man. Stopping the furtherance of this selective hatred and calls for annihilation should be nothing less than a proper and mandatory adherence to those rights.
Once again, Democrats and the leftist, totalitarian ideology they support is giving rise not to the “tolerance and inclusion” they advertise but instead to the issuance and evidence of their use of hatred as a strategic implement in marginalizing and vilifying a people in their quest for the submission of ALL America to their despotic doctrines.
Please do something. As I have said many times here, look to Europe. Our countries are not recogizible anymore. Even the air is filled with scepticism, fear, threats, “be cautious about what you say” (but only for conservatives).
With muslim immigration and a dominant leftist msm & academia, the whole society develops an unbearable Orwellian climate. Conservative parties are not conservative anymore – they too think of getting voters in the next election. And truth somehow disappeared on the way. And islam is untouchable. And their spokespersons have other commandments than not to lie.
Too many ignorant European people believe the msm.
It is impossible to talk to anyone unknown we meet (or even old fiends), because they get full of rage and accuse you of being racist and a supporter genocide if you say anything positive about Israel (they have read the news, you know).
An even bigger problem is that leftist/muslims have a huge tendency to violence.
Meaning nothing is safe anymore. So we stick to ourselves.
It’s maybe a bit like pro- and against Trump in your country? But one day Trump is gone (hopefully he will have a solid, strong successor) – but antisemitism doesn’t leave with a person or a party.
It will stay, and be further fuelled by leftists, muslims and radical politicians.
And that will be tremendous ugly.
You are correct, Lisa. It is a bit frightening to see how major pillars of society have fallen so easily. All i can say is it is not a new phenomenon. Civilizations have risen and fallen repeatedly throughout modern human history. As individuals caught up in the mass societal movements, about all one can do is become aware, learn as much as possible about past societal decays, then apply as much as feasible to saving oneself. That may be moving to a better place, at minimum recognizing the traits, etc., and always be aware and prepared. Look around, where are the lesser, quieter spots on the globe. Why are they that way?
The gathering of modern humans in cities previously foretold of progress in those early days when many struggled to progress. Now, today, cities are places of ignorance, laziness, cesspools of low information voters and the easily brainwashed. Now they foretell a fall from advancement that will likely hasten as their ignorance grows.
My God, how effin’ ugly are these Muslim women.
I am stunned. I am reading, respecting. and appreciating this article decrying the growing, unfair, horrible and often times violent hatred of the Jewish population. How is it then that the tide turns on this page and disrespect is being expressed towards women of the Muslim faith? This is America and Independence Day! Call out hatred towards a race of people. Call our hatred for the other fellow’s faith. But please respect and allow the next person to have a faith different from yours.
Islam does not respect any other faith and calls for extermination and subjugation of the unbelievers, so I do not see why its followers need to be respected. Having said that, the problem with Islam is not a physical appearance of Muslim women, many of whom would look just fine without these garbage bag wrappers aka hijabs 😀.
Gee how tolerant of you. You must be a Muslim.
So ugly, the man make them bag their faces.
