Palestinian Authority: Hamas is Murdering Gazans Trying to Access Food Aid

Hamas for years has been stealing foreign aid, both to provide its own members and their families with aid far beyond what they are entitled to, and to seize still more of that aid in order to then sell it, at exorbitant prices, to ordinary Gazans who were supposed to receive that aid for free. Israel was determined to end Hamas enriching itself in that way — the money was spent on salaries for Hamas members and for weapons — so it set up, with the help of the American government, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). At four distribution points in Gaza, the GHF provides aid — so far, more than 35 million meals have been given out — for free and, for the first time, has prevented Hamas from seizing so much of the aid.

Naturally, Hamas has tried to discourage Gazans from receiving aid from the GHF centers. It wants the GHF effort to fail, so that the aid will again be distributed while being “guarded” only by Hamas, which of course will help itself to as much of that aid as it deems appropriate. The most effective way Hamas has found to discourage Gazans from receiving aid at the GHF distribution centers is murder: Hamas has already fired on, and killed, hundreds of Gazans clamoring for aid. Of course, it blames Israel for the killings, which the IDF has forcefully denied.

Now the Palestinian Authority has backed up Israel’s claim that it is Hamas that has been murdering Gazans trying to access aid at the GHF distribution centers. Hamas is systematically murdering Gazan residents attempting to access food supplies under the false pretext of “collaboration” with American aid distribution centers, according to the Palestinian Authority. The descriptions of the murders, including the names of the murdered and of their relatives who reported their deaths, appeared in the PA official daily’s editorial. It described harrowing accounts from Gazan families who condemn Hamas for operating “death squads” targeting civilians:

“There are many reports that have begun to arrive from the Gaza Strip about killings by Hamas of many of the residents walking the roads in search of a sack of flour, under the pretext that they are collaborating with the American aid centers for food distribution! Not only do the reports reveal this, but there are also letters and statements from families whose sons have been reached by the treacherous hand of Hamas.”

Specific cases include:

– The Shahin family from Deir Al-Balah reported the death of their son, Siraj Al-Din Hisham Shahin, due to “treacherous shooting” by Hamas.
– The Al-Hilu family reported that five sons were murdered by Hamas.
– Hiba Al-Misshal, sister of victim Osama Al-Misshal, wrote the most detailed description:

“[There is] a letter from the sister of murder victim Osama Al-Misshal, Hiba Al-Misshal, who revealed that a group of Hamas members bearing the name ‘Arrow Unit’ stopped the bus her brother was traveling on together with other young men, while they were on their way to one of the food distribution centers. They took them off the bus, bound them, and shot them, after falsely accusing them of ‘collaboration,’ and they continued to chase them while they were wounded, up to the entrance of Nasser Hospital, where they shot them again ‘and prevented the doctors and staff from treating them, and incited the people to beat them with sticks and pipes, amid painful silence around.’ …This led to the killing of her brother and other young men who were on the bus! In her letter, Hiba [Al-Misshal] demands ‘justice for her brother and for every innocent young man who was unjustly murdered.’ She writes: ‘We do not want revenge, rather we want truth and justice… Everyone who participated, remained silent, or justified this crime is responsible before Allah, before history, and before the mothers and wives of the Martyrs and their relatives.”

What a gruesome scene: the Hamas killers, wanting to make sure their victims — who were being murdered for trying to receive food aid from the Israel-backed GHF — were dead, kept shooting at the wounded as they tried to escape into the Nasser Hospital, and then, in the most macabre part of the spectacle, the Hamas men forced others to participate by beating the wounded to death.

It is Israel that has already provided — just since the GHF was set up— 35 million meals to hungry Gazans.

So you don’t want to believe the Israeli claim that it is not the IDF, but Hamas, that has been killing people trying to obtain food at the four distribution centers set up in Gaza by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation? Very well then. Will you believe the testimonies of those Gazans whose sons, brothers, and fathers were murdered in Gaza by Hamas as they went to receive food, testimonies which have just been presented to the world by the Palestinian Authority?
