I’ve expressed my thoughts on the actual Epstein issue before, but here’s the bottom line of what’s happening now.
The Trump administration has a limited legislative window to get anything done. Democrats have seized on the Epstein issue to sideline legislation and some House Republican leaders appear to be going along with it instead of staying laser-focused on passing as much of the president’s agenda as possible.
The Dems know a golden opportunity when they see one and everyone insisting on Epstein answers that are never going to come (certainly not out of Congress, of all places) are squandering a very narrow window for getting anything done.
House Republican leaders are now divided between calling for an early summer break or spending more time hashing out Epstein proposals. None of those are going to go anywhere. If you doubt that, consider the track record of House investigations that usually involve a lot of press releases and no actual action. What the House can do is work overtime to pass legislation instead of wasting time on distractions. And the more Epstein stuff there is, the more the Left gets what it wants.
(People are understandably outraged about Epstein, but as I’ve been predicting for quite a few years now, whatever damning materials there ever were, are long since gone. We’re not going to get any big revelation or truth after all these years. If you thought the FBI would be a good custodian of any damning documents, that was never going to happen.)
This is not just about another legislative session.
The next midterms are likely to see Republicans lose their legislative majority. Dems can very plausibly win the White House in 2028. And it doesn’t matter who’s out front, as the Biden admin already showed us, radicals will run it behind the scenes and make it by far the most radical administration ever. It goes without saying that all of Trump’s executive actions will disappear and be reversed.
Congressional legislation potentially has more lasting power. Whatever Congress can get done may act as a dam in the years to come. And considering the horrors we will be very likely to see 4 years from now, that is more urgent than ever.
This is not just a legislative session. It may be one of the final opportunities to save America.
Letting the Left divide MAGA with an Epstein info op may doom America.
May need an Augustus Caesar approach: have Trump become de facto ruler for life in a disguised form.

The descendants of the moral and religious people that founded this country are no longer represented, and their heritage is being consumed by foreigners who are being intentionally imported to destroy and replace us.

Alan Dershowitz, Epstein’s lawyer, has addressed what issues he could without violating professional ethics. If anybody knew the truth, it was he. That puts the issue to bed for me because Epstein would have been very motivated to tell Dershowitz everything in order to obtain the best plea deal possible. Dershowitz knows Trump was never involved in any way.
Ghislane Maxwell, I am sure, has the same opportunity and is attempting her own release on that opportunity.
None of this will deflect my support for Trump.
Ghislane Maxwell is a reptile. She’s the one people should be talking about, not Epstain. He’s been dead for years. Maxwell is about to be released from prison, even though she should’ve got a life sentence or death sentence.
She trafficked teen agers and maybe kiddies. Somebody should kill her.

I might pity Maxwell. She could be a typical stand-by-your-man female who adopts the beliefs and values of her father, then husband / lover and just fell into Epstein’s vortex. Lots of men enjoy this kind of unquestioning, submissive support.
But you are probably right. At some point, she had to know these girls were too young and vulnerable to handle what was happening to them. Perhaps Ghislaine was herself abused and had not yet processed that well enough to heal and pull out of the vortex?
Young girls who are sexually abused in the manner of Epstein / Maxwell are treated as very important, beautiful creatures and lavished with praise, gifts, etc. It is easy for girls to incorporate this kind of abuse with their pre-adolescent princess fantasies. Strong, involved fathers would go a long way towards keeping these love-starved girls from this kind of entrapment..

I agree with you. She is a predator. Her guilt is not lessened by whatever background and experiences brought her to be that ugly thing.
But her great evil did not materialize without cause. I do not absolve her even slightly, but am interested in the circumstances that could warp the development of virtue in her. Human nature is extremely interesting to me, as are the applications of justice.
We do not have the death penalty for abusing children who physically survive these assaults, but I am all for the death penalty because of the crime is against total innocence and is a proximate cause of the permanent, life-sucking injury that it produces. It is a taking of life at the core, and should be paid with life (lex talionis).

But wait! Trump is a genius, right? No? And Musk is an American hero, right? No? The Epstein files are real! No, they’re not! Trump thought Epstein was a great guy. Wait, what? No. Erase that. Excellent point that the Epstein story is just a distraction. Republicans who are exercised about it just want those involved to be publicly embarrassed or possibly even tried in court. It is however still a matter of personal wrongdoing and must take a back seat to the more important business of correcting the course of the nation and the world.
Another point to consider is that If Trump or other Republican officials were in the Epstein files, certainly the Biden administration would have released it or hinted at it.
DJT is a man among boys. So what’s the alternative to Trump? Barack Obama in the same dress that Bill Clinton wore in that portrait adorning Jeffrey Epstein’s wall? In my opinion, the problem with Tucker Carlson is that he is from a wealthy family and suffers the same kind of guilt as does wealthy liberals except in the other (conservative) direction. They tend to be overly zealous about whatever it is they’re for or against and so much so that they eventually become obnoxious and irritatingly self righteous.
Tucker Carlson is now in the irritatingly self righteous phase of his crusade against the establishment. In and of itself that’s not a bad thing but Tucker needs to dial his rhetoric back a bit and show a tad more humility.
Epstein has become the focal point for a larger problem. Trump and thousands of his supporters were ruthlessly hunted down, bankrupted, harassed, assaulted, imprisoned by the same people or same type of people that were involved with Epstein. The same goes for Covid, where virtually the entire population was subjected to physical and mental torture, loss of job, debanked, decertified, censored, and murdered, again by the same types who never, ever face any accountability for their crimes. People want accountability and justice for what they’ve been put through and Epstein has become emblematic of the elite, rich, powerful and connected destroying people while enriching themselves and never facing consequences. There is a lot of irony involved in this being used against Trump.
No, it is not the us who want the Epstein matter properly investigated that divide MAGA, it is Trump that now divides MAGA by covering for Epstein’s employees. I had grown to be pleased to read a new posting by you before because of the good ideas you presented and the analysis, but now I have discovered you prefer ideology over justice and truth.
Sex as a topic always sells. People don’t get tired of reading about it even when it’s nefarious. The Democrats see the Epstein-O-rama as another way to get back at DJT politically. Some in the GOP and MAGA have a litany of reasons about why the files must be released, NOW! What exactly does releasing the files achieve, besides spending time and money and distracting the public on something that has little to no impact on their lives? Except as a means to register their disgruntlement with the President and his DOJ.
Epstein is dead, and Maxwell is locked up, although she might sing her song and get some kind of special treatment if she does. What does any of this have to do with the bigger issues confronting the country? Call me stupid if you like, I don’t know why releasing the files matters so much; people will never be satisfied and will always want more. And the Democrats will not let any of that go to waste.
