In the heart of the United States, a nonprofit organization with a humanitarian façade operates under the name Aghosh Alkhidmat USA. However, behind the charitable mask lies a disturbing truth: The organization is the American extension of Pakistan-based Al-Khidmat Foundation (AKF), the relief wing of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and a group with an overt history of financing Hamas, the US-designated terrorist organization.
Jamaat-e-Islami: A Terrorist Nexus
To understand the depth of this threat, one must begin with JI, a South Asian Islamist movement founded on the teachings of Abul A’la Maududi. While often branded as a political or religious party, JI is also a breeding ground for terrorism. It has two notorious militant wings, Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Al-Badr, both designated terrorist organizations involved in ongoing violence in Kashmir.
Al-Badr is especially infamous for its role in the 1971 Bangladesh genocide, where as many as three million civilians were systematically targeted and murdered. One of the leaders of these death squads, Ashrafuz Zaman Khan, was sentenced to death in absentia in 2013 by a Bangladeshi war crimes tribunal for his role in the execution of 18 intellectuals. Yet, instead of facing justice, Khan remains in the United States, where he is being harbored by the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) – another US-based group tied to Jamaat-e-Islami.
AKF’s Open Financial Support for Hamas
The links between AKF and Hamas are not speculative – they are documented. In August 2006, Jamaat-e-Islami, the parent org of AKF, published an article on its official website proudly proclaiming that a delegation from Al-Khidmat Foundation had traveled to Damascus, Syria, to meet Khalid Meshal, then-global leader of Hamas. The purpose of the visit? To hand-deliver a check for $100,000 to support Hamas and its bloodshed against Israel.
Accompanying this delegation was Hafiz Naeem ur-Rehman, a key figure in this transnational Islamist network who today serves as the President of both Jamaat-e-Islami and the Al-Khidmat Foundation. Meshal, who now resides in Qatar as a billionaire, accepted the donation, thanked the group, and declared that Hamas would “continue to wage jihad” against Israel, which he referred to as the “Zionist yoke.”
The US Arm: Aghosh Alkhidmat USA
Aghosh Alkhidmat USA markets itself as a child welfare and relief organization. Its website and promotional materials are filled with images of humanitarian aid and emotional appeals to help orphans and victims of war. However, Aghosh USA does not operate independently; it is part of the same infrastructure, funneling American dollars into a system whose parent organization Supports terrorism.
While Aghosh USA does not overtly publicize connections to Hamas, its intense focus on Gaza and the Palestinian cause – especially in the aftermath of Hamas’ brutal attacks in October 2023 – aligns with the propaganda and ideological messaging of Hamas itself. This preoccupation is not a coincidence; it is a continuation of AKF’s broader campaign to use humanitarian causes as a cover for terrorist financing and ideological warfare.
Public Admissions: Supporting Hamas Equals Supporting AKF
The AKF-Hamas connection is not just historical. In October 2023, following Hamas’ deadly attack on Israel that killed over 1200 civilians, Umair Ahmed Siddiqui, President of Jamaat-e-Islami North Karachi, tweeted openly, “Donate [to] the Palestinian brothers and Mujahideen of Hamas. Give your donations to Al-Khidmat.”
This is not ambiguous language. Siddiqui, a senior official in Jamaat-e-Islami, made it clear that a donation to Al-Khidmat is a donation to Hamas.
Changing Maps of Israel
As if to erase any doubt about AKF’s ideological alignment, the group has been publishing monthly “Alkhidmat Palestine Response” reports since October 2023. Each of the reports features a map of the region. Beginning January 2024, AKF altered their map of Israel, removing the label “Israel” entirely and replacing it with “Palestine.” This visual propaganda reflects the genocidal intent of Hamas and its supporters to erase Israel from the map, literally and ideologically.
US Charities Linked to Terror Funding
Al-Khidmat is not the only group operating this way. Islamic Relief, another global Islamic charity with offices in the US, has also faced accusations of terror financing. In 2006, the Israeli government labeled Islamic Relief a front for Hamas and banned the group, accusing its then-leader Ayaz Ali of funneling money directly to Hamas. In 2014, Israel banned it. Despite these accusations, Islamic Relief continues to function in the US, raising millions of dollars annually.
The pattern is clear: International Islamist groups use charitable networks in the US to raise money and legitimize their overseas operations. These organizations often hide behind noble causes – orphans, medical aid, disaster relief – but in reality, serve as financial lifelines for terrorists.
How can the US continue to allow tax-exempt status for entities that function as part of a foreign terror-funding infrastructure? The time has come for federal authorities to take a serious look at US entities linked to terrorism overseas. Terrorism does not only begin with guns and rockets – it begins with dollars and ideology, spread through soft networks masquerading as charity.
And those networks have found a home on US soil.
People like them need to be Investigated and Jailed
