Free speech for me, not for thee, is how many people see things. And it’s certainly how the media thinks.
The AP, which actively collaborated to censor Americans, now claims that the Trump administration is interfering with its “free speech” by not inviting it to cover events.
“And, you know, really you mentioned this is about Gulf of America, Gulf of Mexico, you know, yes, it’s about that, but it’s also about something so much bigger. You know, this is about freedom of speech. And that is a principle, a right that Americans across the political spectrum believe in deeply,” Julie Pace, the executive editor for the Associated Press, claimed.
“This is about whether the government can control the language that we use, that ordinary people can use. And it’s about whether the government can retaliate against you if you don’t use the language that they prefer. So we are standing up for that, right? “
I like how Pace groups one of the most powerful news activist groups in the world with “ordinary people”.
Is the Trump administration forcing ordinary people to say “Gulf of America”?
When it comes to censoring Americans though, the AP has black ink on its hands. The media activist group took part in Facebook’s notorious ‘fact checking’ program that was used to censor ordinary people in order to promote partisan left-wing agendas.
The AP, along with fact-checking sites like (Poynter-owned) PolitiFact, Snopes and Factcheck.org, partnered with Facebook in December 2016 to find and debunk false news stories on the platform. Once a hoax is flagged as false, its future reach in the News Feed is decreased and a fact check is appended to it.
So censorship.
The AP is even more hypocritical for accusing the Trump administration of controlling language when its stylebook notoriously adopted leftist neologisms and politically correct euphemisms that everyone in certain professions was forced to use.
The AP stylebook banned the use of illegal alien because “many immigrants and migrants have some sort of documents, but not the necessary ones.”
That’s coming from the same organization which complains about calling a body the Gulf of America.
The AP has no leg to stand on, no defense and no shame.
The AP will just have to exercise its free hate speech from whatever hole it and the Huffpo share outside of the White House and Air Force One. I’m sure “wire” dispatches can be sent from the Gulf of America, or DNC headquarters.
I seem to remember that they hired a bunch of leftists and Muslims some years ago.
Yes, as “stringers.” and even staff members. Every time you see the AP initialism on a story, you know it’s just another steaming pile of Associated Propaganda. I mean seriously, hiring jihadi terrorists to report on jihadi terrorism?
When you are able to print, say, and publish whatever you want: that’s freedom of speech.
The location where you engage in freedom of speech is irrelevant to your ability to engage in freedom of speech.
Imo
“War is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength,” proclaimed the “woke” rulers in George Orwell’s “1984.” Intended as satire, the totalitarians among us (legacy media) have adopted those slogans from the novel as guiding lights. That’s what happens when speech censors define free speech.
The AP is trying t o save Freedom of the Press while at the same time are trying to destroy it their throwing Gasoline on a Fire
AP free speech only is if you parrot their propaganda and censorship of fact and truth.
“This is about whether the government can control the language that we use, that ordinary people can use. And it’s about whether the government can retaliate against you if you don’t use the language that they prefer. So we are standing up for that, right? “
So, the AP is going to stand up for schoolteachers who are fired for refusing to refer to biological males as women? If an AP writer refers to Denali as Mt. McKinley, the AP will not edit it out? If a school district uses the Bible as a textbook, the AP will not object? The AP will oppose publicly funded universities who suppress the speech of conservatives?
Yes, they’re fighting for their right to publish heinous things like,
“BREAKING: A body released by Palestinian militants overnight was confirmed by the family to be of Shiri Bibas, the Israeli mother whose sons also died in captivity,”
Ah yes, “died in captivity.”. Les mots juste. The once respected AP is now just another piece of our garbage “news media.”
