You know how you sometimes encounter ‘legal documents’ and ‘lawsuits’ that were clearly put together by deranged people whose only understanding of the law comes from episodes of Perry Mason and some sort of guidebook about being your own lawyer written by a guy serving 10 years in prison for mail fraud?
Usually, Congress has higher standards. And I do say, usually.
Rep. Shri Thanedar introduced 7 articles of impeachment of Trump that read like one of those lawsuits. Why is Thanedar impeaching Trump? The 29-page answer is pretty much everything.
Some samples.
“He has, by his actions and statements, sought to establish himself as tyrant, dictator, and autocrat over the People of the United States, usurping unto himself the constitutional powers of Congress, the courts, and the States, and powers illegitimate and beyond the scope of lawful government altogether.”
“He has denied and violated the right of the People of the United States to freedom of speech, and of assembly, and to petition the government for redress of grievances.”
“Trump has unlawfully conducted himself, bringing shame and embarrassment to the office of the Presidency and the people of the United States. He has betrayed the trust of the Nation to conduct meaningful diplomatic negotiations as its chief diplomat and failed to maintain peaceful economic and defense relations with foreign countries.”
And oh…
“He has repeatedly threatened and suggested that he intends to violate the Presidential term limits established by the 22d Amendment to the Constitution.”
That’s not impeachable. Neither is the rest. These aren’t even grounds for impeachment or how you go about impeaching a president. This is an extended op-ed by a crazy person who doesn’t know how the law works in the real world.
This isn’t throwing mud to see if something sticks; it’s an idiot shooting it out of a fire hose and getting covered in it. To be fair to Thanedar, unlike a lot of members of Congress, he’s a non-lawyer, he’s a self-made tycoon, but he couldn’t be bothered to brush up on how impeachment actually works or pay a lawyer with a background in constitutional law to draft something for him that wouldn’t look like it was produced by an AI trained on the Huffington Post comments section and Blue.Sky rants.
This is an OrangeManBad rant. It’s not how impeachment actually works.
Furious House Dems are blasting him and accusing the congressman of doing this just to win his primary. Maybe. But they’re just jealous because he grabbed the attention that they wanted to grab by introducing a worthless resolution that will go nowhere.
Thanedar co-sponsored a resolution to halt aid to Israel, describing it as an Apartheid state,
Born in India, 1955,
Thanedar became a U.S. citizen in 1988.
deport the rat – he looks bizarre like demonic possessed with a woman’s voice
A very wicked and evil man – a freak that should not be a USA citizen let alone be allowed into the Congress building.
At the rate things are going I am 100% A-OK with a third term for Trump. Just switch the law back afterwards, like New York did to prosecute him.
The only president who sought a third term was a Democrat.
Maybe he and Maxine Waters shop at the same wig store?
Just another Democrat agitator in the DC “Washing Machine”.
