Deadly Violence Escalating Against Immigration Law Enforcement 

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers and agents are American patriots who risk their lives every day enforcing the country’s immigration laws. They are being assaulted and shot at by pro-illegal immigrant radicals spurred on by inflammatory rhetoric from unhinged Democrat politicians.

Between President Trump’s inauguration and June 30, 2025 alone, Visaverge reported, “there were 79 reported assaults on ICE officers and other federal agents.” That total is nearly eight times the number of reported assaults during the same period in 2024.

Pro-illegal immigrant activists are also sharing immigration law enforcement agents’ personal information, including their home addresses and their families’ whereabouts, which is placing the agents and their loved ones in great danger.

As an ICE agent explained, “We wear masks not to scare people, but to protect our families. If our faces are known, our children and spouses could be threatened at school, at church, or even at the grocery store.”

The attacks against immigration law enforcement personnel are escalating not only in numbers but also in their level of gravity. For example, on June 21, 2025, fifteen ICE agents and twelve Customs and Border Protection officers were the targets of a Molotov cocktail thrown at a hotel near Los Angeles International Airport where they were staying. Also in June, a suspected member of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua was charged with attempted murder and assault committed against federal Special Agents who were trying to subdue and detain him as he resisted arrest.

On July 7^th, an assailant began shooting at a Border Patrol facility in Texas before being shot to death himself by law enforcement.

Ten militants were charged on July 8^th with attempted murder. They allegedly caused a disturbance around an ICE detention facility in Texas to lure ICE personnel outside and ambush the law enforcement agents with the intent to shoot and kill them. A local police officer was shot in the neck. The defendants were dressed in “black, military-style clothing,” according to the complaint filed against them. Some of them wore body armor. Flyers were found stating, “FIGHT ICE TERROR WITH CLASS WAR!”

Portland Oregon has continued to live up to its reputation as an epicenter of anarchy and insurrection. In late June, Fox News reported, multiple individuals were arrested “following a violent riot” outside an ICE facility “that involved knife-throwing and explosives.” On the Fourth of July, four suspects were arrested for allegedly targeting an ICE facility. One of the suspects allegedly tossed an incendiary device, which blew up near federal officers outside that facility.

This contagion of violence against dutiful federal immigration law enforcement officers and agents is reaching a highly dangerous level that threatens to spin out of control. But rather than support these federal officers and agents who are simply doing their job to enforce the nation’s immigration laws, Democrat politicians are branding them as Nazis and terrorists while siding with the illegal immigrants.

“You’ve got members of Congress—Jayapal comparing me to terrorists, AOC saying we’re violating people’s civil and constitutional rights, Jeffries talking about the Gestapo,” the Trump administration’s border czar Tom Homan said on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle. “It’s ridiculous. And it’s going to end in bloodshed.” Referring to Congress that passed the laws ICE and CBP are enforcing, he added, “They write the laws, we enforce them, and then they turn around and compare us to Nazis. They’ve normalized this hatred. When you portray law enforcement as villains long enough, unstable people act on it. This is just the beginning if we don’t turn it around.”

Some Democrat members of Congress have gone as far as obstructing immigration law enforcement themselves, with one House Democrat accused of assaulting an ICE agent. For her part, House Democrat Squad member Pramila Jaypal said that she finds it “inspiring” to see people obstructing ICE agents.

But the pro-illegal immigrant extremists are not satisfied. They are putting pressure on opponents of ICE in Congress to do far more to destroy the immigration law enforcement agency they hate.

“Some of them have suggested … what we really need to do is be willing to get shot” when visiting ICE facilities, a House Democrat told Axios. “Our own base is telling us that what we’re doing is not good enough … [that] there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public.”

The remnants of the so-called mainstream Democrat establishment are too afraid of alienating the leftwing, progressive base of their party to take an unequivocal stand in support of federal immigration law enforcement officers and agents. That would explain why, on June 11^th, a cowardly majority of House Democrats voted against a resolution expressing “gratitude to law enforcement officers, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel, for protecting the homeland.” This resolution also condemned an Egyptian national illegally in the United States and “his antisemitic terrorist attack on peaceful demonstrators supporting the release of the hostages held by Hamas.”

An even larger number of House Democrats voted against another resolution on June 27^th condemning “unequivocally the violence perpetrated against Federal, State, and local law enforcement” as ICE officers in Los Angeles were attempting to apprehend illegal immigrants. The resolution also called on “local and State elected leadership to work with the Federal Government to end the violent riots and restore peace.” And the resolution expressed “gratitude to law enforcement officers” at the local, state, and federal levels, including ICE, “for keeping our communities safe in the face of danger.”

Young Turks who constitute an increasingly influential place in the Democratic Party’s activist base are pushing the party further leftward. Today’s geriatric leaders of the Democratic Party are afraid to antagonize the leftwing, progressive base of the party, but their pitiful attempt to hold on to their power is a losing effort. The young Turks are anxious to throw their elders out of leadership positions and replace them with their favorite young firebrands such as Democrat-Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas. The Left also has high hopes for their up-and-coming Marxist hero – the 33-year-old Democratic Party nominee in New York City’s mayoralty general election, Zohran Mamdani.

The Democratic Party today is engaging in reckless obstructionism to thwart President Trump’s agenda at all costs, including his policy of mass deportation of illegal immigrants. The party hacks are catering to the activist base of their party rather than firmly denouncing the shock troops who are using violent means to try to obstruct ICE and CBP from performing their law enforcement duties.

At this rate, along with all its other positions on key issues that are out of step with the American people, the Democratic Party is on a path to self-destruction, except in the unlikely event that it manages to do a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree turn.
