Actually there is a legitimate comparison between slavery and abortion. Both view a portion of the population as less than human. Dred Scott and Roe v Wade were the flip sides of the same coin; some people are human and others are sub-human.
Issues like slavery and abortion are not properly governed by states rights but by the Bill of Rights. That’s why it would have been better if the Dobbs Court in its over rule of Roe had declared abortion to be unconstitutional. It’s not hard to reference the 5th and 14th Amendments both of which codify the right to life.
