We live in extraordinary times. I don’t think apathy quite captures what we are observing from our fellow citizens. A list like the one Victor Davis Hanson wrote should generate alarm and panic or some sort of rationalization from partisans that disagree. I think people don’t want to assume that the people in charge are intentionally destroying things around them and that might in large part account for the public’s apathy. If they couldn’t have made a bigger mess of things if they tried… then you are justified in thinking that they are lying and doing it on purpose.
