The Mueller counterintelligence investigation is being billed as a coup investigating collusion. But its biggest catch is set to have zero collusion trials.
That’s a capital Z for zero.
The federal judge overseeing the second trial of Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump’s one-time campaign chairman, ruled on Wednesday that a federal investigation of possible collusion between the campaign and Russia cannot be discussed during the trial.
The collusion investigation being led by U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller is “wholly irrelevant to the charges in this case,” Judge Amy Berman Jackson said during a pre-trial hearing in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Unlike, Judge Ellison who was subjected to a brief Two Minute Hate when the media briefly feared losing the first Manafort trial, Amy Berman Jackson is one of the gang. And she doesn’t want to touch this one with a ten foot pole.
But I’m sure that the media will cover this trial as one in which Russigate is wholly irrelevant.
