[Help us preserve David’s legacy: HERE.]
In the wake of the passing of Freedom Center founder David Horowitz, tributes are pouring in from everyone from world leaders and politicians to activists and thought leaders, attesting to the former-radical-Marxist-turned-conservative firebrand’s courage, vision, and inestimable influence on conservatism.
Newly installed United States ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee wrote, “Heartbreaking news. David was one of the most brilliant minds in the conservative movement & came to his convictions by intellectual honesty. We will miss you my friend! David Horowitz R.I.P.”

Dutch politician and freedom fighter Geert Wilders tweeted, “David Horowitz, my dear friend and ally, passed away. David was an American hero, a giant, a warrior for freedom, one of the bravest patriots I have ever met. We will miss you David. Condolences to his family, friends and to America. May his memory be a blessing.”

Senator Ted Cruz lamented on X, “So very sad. @horowitz39 was a friend & an extraordinary voice for Liberty. A former Marxist, he powerfully understood the evil of the radical Left. He loved America. And he was utterly unafraid to speak the Truth. Rest in Peace.”
“David inspired generations of bold conservative leaders, building a lasting legacy,” stated Stephen Miller, the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, U.S. Homeland Security Advisor, and Horowitz protégé. “He selflessly gave his time, energy, support and mentorship to young patriots fighting a corrupt and oppressive system. I will always be grateful to him and will never forget his kindness.”
Former Congressman Louie Gohmert tweeted,
David Horowitz’s passing today is an irreplaceable loss for America. I’m heartbroken. Raised a Marxist, led as a Marxist, but self-discerned the pure evils of Marxism as clearly as Solzhenitsyn & Sharansky by pure intellect. Rest In Peace David, my friend. Honored to be a Senior Fellow under you.
Bill Donohue, head of the Catholic League, the nation’s largest Catholic civil rights organization, posted a eulogy on their website in which he concluded,
David was fond of saying that many conservatives don’t get it. They are so nice. The problem with that is they seriously underestimate how vicious the Left is. They need to toughen up. They don’t understand how driven and malicious radicals are.
[…]
As he grew intellectually, David, who was Jewish, became a staunch advocate of Christianity. He saw the cultural rot that militant secularism wrought, concluding that an ascendant Christianity was badly needed.
Not surprisingly, the Left turned on him, hating his slide to conservatism. But he didn’t care—all he cared about was telling the truth.
America has lost a great one. I was honored to have known David Horowitz as a friend. May he rest in peace.
Radio giant Mark Levin wrote,
I’m so sorry to hear that David Horowitz has passed away. He was a great advocate for our country and a brave voice against the Left. He spent most of his remarkable and consequential life battling the communists, Islamists, and radicals. He knew how dangerous they are as he was one of them early in his life. RIP, David Horowitz. Thank you for your patriotism.
Caroline Glick, author and International Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister of Israel, declared, “David Horowitz was a great mentor and friend to me and to thousands of conservatives in the United States and around the world. He illuminated the path to freedom with his awesome courage, intellectual brilliance and commitment to bring us together. May his memory be blessed.”
Author and activist Jack Posobiec called David “the Godfather of the New Right.” He added, “I worked with David Horowitz in college back in 2005 with Students for Academic Freedom at U putting our professors on trial. Then we brought Geert Wilders to campus. Will always appreciate the opportunities he gave me and all he did for the movement. David was a titan”
The good folks at PragerU posted, “All of us at PragerU mourn the passing of David Horowitz. David’s influence on the conservative movement was profound and will be long lasting. So many people and organizations owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude. PragerU is certainly included in that group. May his memory be a blessing.”

Filmmaker Eli Steele (What Killed Michael Brown?), son of black conservative Shelby Steele (The Content of Our Character), wrote in part on X, “David Horowitz was a good man. A fighter who believed in America. I know my father is touched by his passing for they crossed paths many times.”

Filmmaker Robert Davi tweeted, “Heartbroken to hear of one of my political mentors the Great David Horowitz has died – he was a Conservative Giant !! He should get the coverage his passing deserves – if he were a Hollywood star or liberal this would be a major news story !!! My condolences to his family and friends.”
Black conservative professor and author Carol Swain wrote, “I will deeply miss David Horowitz. I have known David since the 1999s and he has encouraged and supported throughout my career. He was a great American who influenced millions around the world. Rest in Peace! Comfort and prayers for family and loved ones.”
“A true giant,” wrote historian Larry Schweikart. “David Horowitz was on the front line fighting communism for decades.”
Perhaps the most effusive praise came from Turning Point USA founder and conservative activist Charlie Kirk, another Horowitz protégé, who posted a lengthy tribute on X. It’s worth posting below in its entirety. Be sure to read it all:
Rest in peace to my friend and mentor David Horowitz, who has just passed away. A fearless truth-teller, David was a titan in the battle of ideas and a warrior for Western civilization.
David grew up on the hard Left and remained a committed Marxist into his 30s. But he had the rare courage to question everything, and ultimately reject the radicalism of his youth to become one of the most influential conservative thinkers of our time.
Without David Horowitz, I’m not sure Turning Point USA would exist. David was a lifelong crusader and maverick for the conservative cause. A former communist turned fierce anti-left advocate, he dedicated his life to confronting the ideologies he once embraced.
Over 90% of our earliest major donors were introduced at a David Horowitz event—thanks to his warm endorsements and generous introductions. His support opened doors that would have otherwise remained closed.
David always believed in me and in Turning Point USA. He saw our campus movement as a rebirth of freedom—the kind of revival he long hoped to see. We spoke often by phone, and he remained a trusted teacher and mentor throughout my journey.
David understood the Left—not just its surface slogans, but its underlying motivations, its tactics, and most importantly, how to effectively confront and defeat it. His life was a testament to courage, intellectual clarity, and unwavering moral conviction. He showed that truth—once found—demands action, no matter the personal cost.
His David Horowitz Freedom Center was a launchpad for so many voices on the Right—including mine. In 2014, he invited me to speak at his Restoration Weekend, one of the first big breaks of my career. He believed in young leaders long before the world did.
Twenty-five years ago, David mentored a high school student named Stephen Miller. He supported him through Duke, through the Senate, and into the Trump White House. Today, Stephen is one of the most impactful architects of America First immigration policy. A legend thanks to David’s mentorship.
As Politico wrote, “If you want to understand the immigration policies [Trump] has put into place, you have to also understand Horowitz.” David’s fingerprints are all over the populist revival of the last decade.
David saw the Left clearly—and early. His books Indoctrination U and One Party Classroom were prophetic, exposing the rot on college campuses years before most conservatives dared to speak up. They helped inspire my own book The College Scam and much of Turning Point USA’s campus strategy.
But David didn’t just write. He debated. He showed up. He walked into hostile auditoriums and faced down Marxist professors, Islamist apologists, and race hustlers—armed only with truth, moral clarity, and a sharp tongue.
Back in 1999, David called out the Left’s weaponization of civil rights and its growing hatred of white people—a topic so radioactive that most conservatives avoided it for two more decades. He said what others were afraid to even whisper.
He published over 50 books, debated thousands, mentored dozens, and shaped the ideological terrain we now fight on. His final book was published in 2023—at the age of 84. He worked until his last breath.
David Horowitz was a lion. A fighter. A father of modern conservatism. He was a teacher to me, a mentor, and a friend. Turning Point USA will continue its successful movement in your honor, and thanks to your help. We miss you David, god bless you. Thank you
David Horowitz is gone, but his passion for freedom and American greatness changed countless lives, empowered conservativism, and laid the groundwork for the MAGA movement. And yet to the end he believed he had not done enough. Would that the rest of us could have even a fraction of his impact on behalf of helping make America great again.
Thank you. So beautiful. David’s soul is on to new destinations, (His books are in our home library.)
David was a good man overall. Incredible that he was indoctrinated and molded by his parents to become a Marxist, yet had the intelligence and maturity to pivot from that ideology. There are not many people who would, or can do that.
Unfortunately, although David has acknowledged with importance of Christianity, he never got baptized into the Christian faith. Sad.
Frontpage is a great resource of info that I often use to debate liberals. My only point of contention is the blind loyalty and biased reporting on Israel.
I don’t believe the US should be dragged into war after war and that includes the Middle East. I suggest people start paying attention to Dave Smith and Norman Finklestein on that topic.
RIP Mr Horowitz
Only an islamo Nazi would recommend reading anything by Norman Finkelstein, a self-hating JINO committed to a second Holocaust in Israel.
The minute you name call and can’t refute what Norman said you lost. Norman is open to debate anyone.
Norman isn’t a JINO because he acknowledges Israel is an invention and that a European people stole Palestinian land.
People like you are a puppet for Israel. Send your kids to fight there. Norman and I are Americans..
Nazi? What a clown you are. You think an anonymous troll like you is going to stop people from telling the truth? Lol
You sound like the blacks that call everyone a racist for pointing out their pathology’s.
Is Dave Smith a JINO to? Lol
David Horowitz will be missed by so many of us. He started out as a Red Diaper Baby and became a Lion of Judah.
May his memory be a blessing.
David Horowitz was a unique treasure, a towering redwood in the conservative forest. Despite being marinated in the Left for over 30 years, he eventually saw through them on his own and made it his life’s mission to expose their workings to the widest audience possible. He was especially concerned about the warping of young minds in America’s academia where marxism flourishes. Fortunately he mentored countless intellects who will carry on his work. Blessings on him.
Mr. Horowitz was a great warrior for freedom. It’s a pity that he didn’t understand that Christianity doesn’t lead to liberty but to the tyranny of theocracy as surely as Islam does.
Could you be more of an Objectivist freak? You just can’t help yourself can you.
It is a pity that you don’t when to just STFU.
“It is a pity that you don’t when to just STFU.” Is this Ebonics? What does this mean?
Oh poor Ritchie. Not up on the latest stuff. Well, I’m not going to tell you. It’s easy enough to find it on a search engine. You do know what a search engine is.
Obviously, you are a stuffed shirt Dick…..head dork. I guess you don’t like it when your latest main squeeze gets criticized. Two huge narcissistic snobs who are
🎶🎶Falling in love again.🎶🎶
BTW you are really good at stealing other’s insults. And here I thought you had original ideas, and not just silly schoolboy gotcha questions
Cranking about Christianity was a hip thing back in high school. I know, I was one of them. We thought we were so intellectual.
Chris Shugart, you’re still not intellectual, but I would welcome an intellectual discussion about Christianity when ever you’re ready.
T. you will never be an intellectual because you will always be an Objectivist.
I strongly suspect David was well aware of the potential for Christianity to be tyrannical. However, the historical evidence demonstrates Christianity is no where near as tyrannical as Islam. Leaving Islam is punishable by death. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I am unaware of such a provision in any Christian denomination.
Many Americans have abandoned the Roman Catholic Church and other denominations. Net, Christianity has been a positive for society.
The unofficial state religion of atheism didn’t prevent tyranny in the Soviet Union.
Thank you for your comment.
Don’tcha love it when God haters wax on “poetically” about religion? Telling us what we already know.
Ritchie, you couldn’t find God with two hands and a flashlight. Stick to atheism. You have the stench of the usual academic intellectual fool.
Thank you for your serious reply.
Your first crucial and mistaken assumption is this – “Leaving Islam is punishable by death. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I am unaware of such a provision in any Christian denomination.”
The fatal or dire consequences of leaving a religion do not have to be EXPLICIT, they are as often explicit, as implied. Christians killed Christians for centuries, for apostasy, infidelity, heresy, and blasphemy. Even though Jesus Christ did not explicitly command this.
Your second crucial error is this – “Net, Christianity has been a positive for society.”
You are ascribing the modern world of secular freedom, secular liberty, and reason as a result of Christianity. It is not. Christianity was essentially prostrated and leashed by the Renaissance (the rebirth of reason) and the Age of Enlightenment (the light of reason). Islam has not been prostrated by reason. Islam is still in its pure, medieval form, dark ages form unlike today’s leashed and diluted Judeo-Christianity.
“What — or who — ended the [Christian] Middle Ages? My answer is: Thomas Aquinas, who introduced Aristotle, and thereby reason, into medieval culture. In the thirteenth century, for the first time in a millennium, Aquinas reasserted in the West the basic pagan approach. Reason, he said in opposition to Augustine, does not rest on faith; it is a self-contained, natural faculty, which works on sense experience. Its essential task is not to clarify revelation, but rather, as Aristotle had said, to gain knowledge of this world. Men, Aquinas declared forthrightly, must use and obey reason; whatever one can prove by reason and logic, he said, is true….
In fact, as I have argued, the concept of rights is ultimately incompatible with the idea of the supernatural. This is true not only logically, but also historically. Through all the centuries of the Dark and Middle Ages, there was plenty of belief in a Creator; but it was only when religion began to fade that the idea of God as the author of individual rights emerged as an historical, nation-shaping force. What then deserves the credit for the new development — the age-old belief or the new philosophy? What is the real intellectual root and protector of human liberty — God or reason?” – Leonard Peikoff. “Religion versus America”
Chesterson said “When you cease believing in God, you don’t believe in Nothing. You believe in Anything.”
When you believe in God you will believe in anything including flying an airplane into skyscrapers believing you will live in eternity with 72 Virgins.
Which God?
Islam has a warped World view, is Globally destabilizing and agenda is dar al islam
“Christianity doesn’t lead to liberty . . ”
Yet a smarter mind than yours though 180° otherwise – which was another facet that indeed made him a great mind.
When Larry Elder first began his radio show, a chickenshit activist group launched a letter-writting campaign to get him dropped.
Some easily caved and did just that.
Horowitz got wind of it (recognizing the Alinskyite tactic), and spent over $200,000 to promote his show.
Christian tyrant Elder thanked him for literary saving his career. (The rest is history.)
Horowitz’s contributions were vast and cannot be overstated.
Larry Elder can believe what ever he wants to believe, and so can you, and so can I, so long as he does not initiate slander, lies, fraud, or physical force against anyone else who disagrees with him.
“In accordance with the principles of America and of capitalism, I recognize your right to hold any beliefs you choose — and, on the same grounds, you have to recognize my right to hold any convictions I choose. I am an intransigent atheist, though not a militant one. This means that I am not fighting against religion — I am fighting for reason. When faith and reason clash, it is up to the religious people to decide how they choose to reconcile the conflict. As far as I am concerned, I have no terms of communication and no means to deal with people, except through reason.” – Ayn Rand
You are the king of Objectivist slander, lies and fraud, I guess that is why you spend your days being an unreasonable intransigent atheist snob. You think you have the right to callously insult anyone who doesn’t subscribe to your intellectual fascism, without consequence. Because you do it from the safety of your keyboard and hiding behind Ayn Rand’s skirt. I have been dealing with insufferable morons like you since I joined my church.
I have no need to reconcile your conflict. I have never had a problem with faith and reason existing in the same sphere.
You couldn’t be more wrong – whilst Mr. Horowitz was right to reject that common absurdity.
And so does Objectivism when its enforcers, like you, expect complete adherence without deviation from Ayn Rand. She was a tyrannical enforcer of those students claiming to be objectivists who did not perform according to her strict edicts using her favorite acolyte, Nathaniel Brandon, as her “ruthless moral enforcer”.
Then, as a married woman, she had a sexual affair with Brandon, himself married at that time. In furtherance of her individual interests, she insisted that both spouses be told. She followed up demanding that her husband, Frank O’Connor, leave the apartment one afternoon and one weekend evening each week. There, she and Brandon would engage in their “relationship”. All was well until Ayn found out that Nathaniel Brandon, in addition to his wife, Barbara, was having a sexual affair with yet another woman along with Ayn. When Ayn found out, she was enraged and acted, not in rational affirmation of his individual interests, but instead in an emotional fury going so far as to deliberately malign him and in an attempt to destroy him.
In this case, neither Ayn or Nathaniel cared about the torment this affair created for their spouses resulting in Frank drinking heavily and Barbara experiencing anxiety- driven panic attacks.
The inherent entitlement to rationalize the disregard of their marital commitments in commencement of their desires and pleasure renders them both as selfish in an accommodating paradigm not of existential rationality but instead of mutual self-centeredness. Yet another covetous attempt to inoculate themselves from individual responsibility and accountability for their actions.
She was a human being fraught with not only rational bias but also emotionally-driven biases both of which she often used as weapons in absolutist tyranny. Implicit in objectivism is the potential tyranny of individual self interest to the exclusion of regard for others. This is not altruism but, in fact, how objectivism can be abused by its adherents in a rationalized tyranny against others.
Regardless of which means is used, it is human beings who devolve both religion and philosophies into applications for the induction of tyranny over others and objectivism is no different.
Well said. I like the term enforcer because that is what THX is. Fortunately he is an old man now who’s time came and went while Rand was alive. So he is reduced to being an annoying keyboard warrior who gets his jollies insulting people of faith from a distance
I hope he has the stones to answer you.
I am greatly saddened by the passing of David Horowitz. I will always treasure the support he gave my novel Altamont Augie. The book review he wrote of it in the Wall Street Journal was very special to me. I got an email late one night before the book was published from David, whom I had not yet met at the time. I had written to him asking if he would consider endorsing the book with a blurb. Reading “I loved your book” in an email from David Horowitz remains one of the more gratifying moments of my life. We later met, and I found David to be a warm, genuine, generous human being, of remarkable intellect. Rest in peace, David. We will miss you.
G-d bless David and his family,
I hope and pray he was ‘right’ with G-d on his way Home,
and we can meet him again
some sunny day.
Like one of those “thousand year storms,” here was the type of a man that only comes around once in a long while -a true rarity among men.
I WROTE DAVID IN EMAILS that his books at our local Albuquerque stores were being hidden, placed in other sections/cooking/travel, and just covered with other books. I would rearrange the books to prominently display his. They had a new book section, his was never there so I put them there. Barnes and Noble was the worst! “When a Democrat/Leftist gets into a hiring position, they only hire their own.” That goes for so many professions and especially, universities. This local bookstore was 100% far-left. Any book by a Leftist, in full display when you walk in. Obama and Michelle are still displayed. (I get a thrill up my leg every time I walk in. Oh Golly!)
I last heard David when he was promoting his latest book on our local Radio. I texted a question which the host asked since I’ve been calling in since the early ’80s. I always mentioned Communists, the Communist Party USA, and their fronts. “Why is the Communist Party USA, and their Fronts, left out of public discussion and analysis since many Democrats associate with them?”
“The Communists are a threat, but they are in the shadows. Their followers in the Democratic Party are the bigger danger… Closet Communists.”
STRANGE that David’s college visits were protested, banned, shut down, and needed high security. I don’t recall the same for IRAN’S AHMADINEJAD’S VISIT TO COLUMBIA and he only wanted to “wipe Israel off the map.” Now our colleges are run by people who allow “From the River to the Sea” and the intimidation of all Jews, and Jewish students. Then they have the nerve to call anyone who is against them, Nazis? NO! HITLER WOULD BE SO PROUD OF THEM and then they are funded by a real Nazi collaborator, GEORGE SOROS!
KEEP UP THE FIGHT FRONT PAGE MAGAZINE!
How wonderful to receive such distinguished accolades. David Horowitz
was a great man who deserves them.
As an ordinary person and recipient of his immense influence, I, too, have
added my little tribute. I just ordered “America Betrayed” to honor him.
Before he died, Mr. Horowitz said that of all the books he has written, it is
the one he wanted most for people to read.
God bless America and David Horowitz.
David was one of the few who saw the root cause of 9/11: Islam. Many conservatives couldn’t face the fact that a religion can lead men to evil.
I remember how FPM entertained articles debating the role of Islam. We all wanted to know the truth. Both he, I, and others realized that Robert Spencer has it right. Spencer joined FPM shortly after. To this day most conservatives can’t face the nature of Islam.
His book “Unholy Alliance” described what others thought impossible. Even predicting “Trans for Gaza.”
I have his book Dark Agenda sending the Warning about the plans of t he UN/CFR/Globalists with Satan’s Fingerprint all over it
I got to hear David speak at Knox College and became an instant fan. It is exemplary that he was so demonstrably willing to change his mind when the facts didn’t support his positions. That’s what a mature, intelligent person does. When progressives were busy pushing nonsense about police brutality, David was busy countering with his book “I Can’t Breathe: How a Racial Hoax is Killing America.”
Too bad about Dennis Pragers situation – maybe that’s why no personal message.
This one hurts. Only other one that comes close was losing Rush. Rest in Peace David. Although I think he maybe shaking some folks up as he makes his way to forever.
David’s voice will be missed by the majority of American’s who are opposed to the woketocracy which is a kind of Rainbow Fascism, a caste system that allocates the society’s awards based on a hierarchy of victimhood.
I think the current woke ideology is not so much the result of Marxist ideology but something that Eric Hoffer observed.:
“All great causes begin as movements, become businesses and end up as rackets”.
The Democratic Party base is the end product of a group of protest groups that originated in a protest against actual discrimination but evolved into straight forward opportunism. The civil rights movement was about freedom rather than race. It was the demand that the country live up to its founding principles of equality before the law. It was not about the phony equity demand which mandated quotas.
Over time, the demands changed into favoring blacks and women in college admissions, employment opportunties and contracting. It led to a pattern of other groups seeking similar advantages through appeals for acceptance of their claims of victimhood.
I think that looking at David’s life, there is more to his change of heart than realization that Marxism led to totalitarian rule. Ronald Reagan famously said I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me. I think a similar thing happened to the politics of the sixties. Having ended legal segregation and barriers to employment for women and black people, the people who continued to push forward a progressive agenda were following the pattern that Eric Hoffer warned about. The idealism that had motivated the sixties protesters remained alive with many who like David had second thoughts about where progressive politics was going. My sense is that even with David, what he objected to was not so much second thoughts about the protest movements of the sixties, but rather what the protest movements had become.
I lived on the same block as David’s family in Sunnyside. Though I did not know him personally his book “ Radical Son” was a real eye opener for me.
Thank GOD, the GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Israel for professing atheist or agnostic David Horowitz (LORD bless his memory) who repented of his past Black Panther life and lived and practiced and proclaimed some of the most basic principles for good government and human relations taught in the words of Moses and JESUS in the pages of the HOLY BIBLE. AUTHOR and FORMER of Public Opinion, David Horowitz wrote, more than anyone else, to inform and challenge good governments to act and stop the twentieth and twenty-first century persecution and martyrdom of Christians and Jews . I fully expect to see him – along with Moses, the repentant thief on the cross, Nicodemus who visited Jesus by night for fear of others, and Joseph of Arimathea, a secret disciple of Jesus who lent his tomb for Jesus’ burial – in heaven and the Eternal Kingdom and peaceful Jerusalem prophesied in the HOLY BIBLE.
The world is now a darker place
Jesus is the light of the World
Those who are in Him shall not walk in darkness
Though I did not know David, I did have the pleasure of meeting him very briefly a couple of times when he came to speak at UC Irvine. The last time he came, he was clearly tired and not in good health, yet he came, spoke the truth, and faced the hostile questions, easily defeating them. We greatly appreciated his coming to UC Irvine and supporting us.
He was a giant and a very courageous man.
May his memory be a blessing.
I think it was from David that I first heard about the concept of the “rolling of souls”. Whatever, David’s soul will roll on in my life, and through me, his soul will continue to roll through my children’s lives, and those whom I influence in my life. Rest in peace, noble soldier for liberty.
