Pete Buttigieg’s presidential candidacy was a surreal event considering what a hellhole South Bend is. The 2020 primaries gave us the spectacle of the media completely ignoring what South Bend, outside Notre Dame, was like, and then focusing purely on the Black Lives Matter complaints, instead of the runaway violence.
Buttigieg is out, but South Bend is still racking up the shootings. The latest victim is a 7-year-old girl.
South Bend Mayor James Mueller and South Bend Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski are speaking out about the shooting incidents that took place this past weekend.
Chief Scott Ruszkowski: “Just this weekend, we’ve already had 4 people shot. One being an innocent 7-year-old girl, playing at a birthday party. We’re almost at 100 people criminally shot this year. As a community, we can no longer accept this senseless violence and we all have to do our part.
Clearly that’s not true.
The numbers from July were already bad enough.
As of Monday, 84 people have been shot in the city in “criminally assaulted shootings” so far in 2020, according to police. Of those, 14 have been killed, which is already more than the 11 people killed in shootings for all of 2019. Criminally assaulted shootings do not include accidental shootings or suicides.
At this time last year in South Bend, 63 people had been shot. In 2019 as a whole, police data show, 109 people were injured in shootings.
So records are on the way to being broken in South Bend.
While the media keeps claiming that there’s violence in “Donald Trump’s America”, this is a city recently run by a Democrat presidential candidate.
