Francesca Albanese is the UN’s Special Rapporteur on Human Rights In the Occupied Palestinian Territories. It’s the perfect job for her, because she is a deep-dyed antisemite, who was accusing Israel of “war crimes ”and “genocide” even before the war in Gaza. An early adopter, you might say. Albanese is also a grifter, who has hidden payments made to her by pro-Hamas groups, eager to show their appreciation for her support for the terror group. More on Albanese can be found here: “Watchdog probe finds Albanese lied about funding sources for Australia, NZ visits,” by Mathilda Heller, Jerusalem Post, May
The UN special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories accepted around $20,000 in payment from pro-Hamas groups to fund her trips to Australia and New Zealand in late 2023, as revealed by UN Watch on Wednesday.
Francesca Albanese’s mandate was renewed last month despite extensive opposition from the US, Israel, Argentina, the Netherlands, and Hungary. When asked about her trip to Australia in November 2023, Albanese said it was funded by the UN. In July, she said she had nothing to hide and welcomed an inquiry into the matter.
However, the UN Watch NGO revealed that her trip was funded by several groups, including the Australian Friends of Palestine Association (AFPA), Free Palestine Melbourne, Australia Palestine Advocacy Network (APAN), and Palestinian Christians in Australia.
AFPA publicly announced on its website that it paid for Albanese’s visit to Australia….
In other words, when first asked who had paid for her trip in November 2023, she flat-out lied, claiming the UN had funded it. She no doubt thought that the UN would confirm her lie. Perhaps she thought she was so useful to the UN as a tireless promoter of anti-Israel animus that the organization would vouch for her story. After all, why would someone like UN Director-General Antonio Guterres, who insists that Israel has committed “war crimes,” want to be forced to fire someone like Francesca Albanese, who is so accommodating, so much on the same wave length as Guterres, in her hatred of the Jewish state?
“Albanese has compounded her misconduct, accepting funding from Hamas-supporting organizations and then lying by claiming the UN paid for her trip,” said UN Watch director Hillel Neuer. “She continuously abuses her position at the UN to spread antisemitic rhetoric and amplify Hamas propaganda through social media, TV, and her false reports.”
UN Watch filed complaint regarding trip’s funding
UN Watch filed a complaint regarding the funding for the trip, after which the UN secretariat referred the matter to the special rapporteurs’ Coordination Committee. The committee, according to UN Watch, is primarily comprised of Albanese’s allies, such as Dr. Tlaleng Mofokeng, the UN’s special rapporteur on the right to health, from South Africa, who has claimed Israelis are “barbaric, evil, and deserving of hell on earth.”
Well, that should be quite a useless investigation of Frederica Albanese, who will be cleared of all charges by her friends and fellow antisemites on the committee. These include Dr. Tlaleng Mofokeng, the UN special rapporteur on the right to health, who — in case you were thinking he might actually be studiedly neutral, has described Israelis as “barbaric, evil, and deserving of hell on earth.” Dr. Mofokeng, go ahead, tell us what you really think.
In short, the UN’s own investigation into Francesca Albanese’s acceptance of $20,000 from Hamas-linked groups will be a farce.
Additionally, the United States mission to the UN sent a letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres stating that it opposed the renewal of her role due to her “virulent antisemitism, which demonizes Israel and supports Hamas.”
Despite the committee finding that Albanese did lie about her funders and the US opposition, her mandate was nevertheless renewed. According to UN Watch, the committee also found that Albanese expressed antisemitic views on social media but, despite this, insisted she “is not antisemitic.”…
This is the logic of Alice In Wonderland, Albanese expressed antisemitic views on social media but, the committee says, “she is not antisemitic.” The committee investigating who paid the $20,000 to pay for her trip to Australia and New Zealand should not stop there, but find out how many other trips she has taken that may have been financed by Hamas supporters, or Hamas itself, or Iran, or Qatar. And who has been paying a salary to Francesca Albanese all these years, given that she receives no salary from the UN itself? Isn’t anyone interested in finding out? Isn’t it just possible that she has been on the take — the recipient of large sums from grateful Arabs and Muslims — all this time?
What does it take to get this horror fired? She accuses the IDF of using dogs to rape Palestinians — a charge so preposterous that even the Palestinian spokesmen themselves have not made it, and yet she still keeps her lofty position, as the UN’s Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, is intolerable.
In February 2024, she said the October 7 massacre was a “reaction to Israel’s oppression” and called Gaza “the largest and most shameful concentration camp of the 21st century.”
What “oppression” did Palestinians in Gaza suffer before October 7? There had not been a single Israeli to “oppress” the Gazans for two decades; all the Israelis had pulled out of the Strip in 2005. As for this “most shameful concentration camp” canard, before October 7, 19,000 Gazans entered Israel every day to work, receiving wages three to four times what they would have earned in Gaza, and had the October 7 atrocities not occurred, the government of Israel was planning to increase the number of Gazans allowed in to work. Tens of thousands of Gazans before that date also entered Israel every day to conduct business. And Gazans were also able to move out of that so-called “concentration camp” by going to Egypt through the Rafah Border Crossing. None of this has made the slightest impression on the hate-filled Francesca Albanese.
What can be done about Francesca Albanese? First, a committee made up not of her friends, but of an ad hoc group of lawyers and accountants, should be brought in by the U.N. to examine the sources of Albanese’s support: who has been paying her a salary, who has been providing money for her luxury travel around the world? The US should threaten to withhold payments to the UN if it does not agree to allow such an investigation. And once that investigation is complete, Albanese should be fired, because her lying about the $20,000 she was given by Hamas-linked groups in Australia is reason enough. No further scandal is needed. Don’t worry about her. She can always find work as the UN correspondent for Al Jazeera.
There are no negative consequences for hating Jews. However, there seems to be a financial upside to being an anti-Semite. Albanese is just an exemplar of these truisms.
Good one Hugh !!!!!
with all the hoopla from those who decry anti semitism i have yet not seen any real effort to stamp it out only lip service . plenty of hand wringing and woe is us because there is no place for hate drivel and yet it continues with useless idiots like miss albanese being given a plum job and air time . she should be charged with hate speech and facilitating the murder of the couple in dc . but because no one is serious about the threat to jews it will continue .
In the case of Francesca Albanese and Antonio Guterres ,the UN secretary-general,they are both correct when they say that the blockade of all food, medicine and water into Gaza, which
has 2 million people,
since MARCH 2, more than 2 and a half months,
is a war crime, a crime against humanity. Evil,it is even worse than the Nazi blockade of the Warsaw ghetto during WW II. There they allowed a limited amount of food to enter. As a result
of the 500,000 Jews there, 100,000 starved to death.
I completely agree, “Your silence and selective outrage send a chilling message that Jewish lives are worth less, that violence against Jews is excusable, and that terrorism can be rationalized when the victims are Israeli. We call on the UN to immediately remove you from your role.” – Leo Terrell to Francesesca Albanese.
