The Biden administration is obsessed with post-war scenarios for Gaza.
There are roughly 4.
1. Israel reclaims some measure of control over Gaza
2. Hamas remains in power
3. The Palestinian Authority, another terror group, takes control over Gaza
4. A UN “peacekeeping force” secures the area
The EU and the Biden administration like 3 and 4. Having the PLO take over is a terrible idea. The PLO will demand some sort of concessions, likely state recognition, a lot more money and weapons, and will end up cutting some deal with Hamas.
But a UN force is almost a terrible idea.
First, despite all the talk about the Saudis or the UAE, neither are remotely likely to want the thankless job, and that’s even if Israel were foolish enough to allow foreign Muslim forces inside its borders. No Arab Middle Eastern nation is likely to go for it.
Second, Israel has learned a long time ago that turning over security to the UN combines sheer uselessness with enemy collaboration.
UN forces on the Gaza border and a divided Jerusalem in the 1950s, turned a blind eye to Islamic attacks only to pop up to condemn Israel.
Before major regional conflicts, UN forces routinely departed at the behest of the invading Muslim armies. They still do. When Hezbollah wants to attack Israel, the UN’s blue helmet brigades take to their heels.
A UN peacekeeping force would just act as shields for Hamas, denouncing Israel while doing nothing to stop the violence. We know that because it’s how UN peacekeeping forces have operated in the area since Israel’s rebirth. There’s a consistent pattern of useless coward and corrupt complicity.
Outsourcing security to the UN is not a plan.

A UN peacekeeping force would keep the war going indefinitely.
Like the ceasefires. They greatly extend the war, which now looks to go on for years.

UN is doing a great job in Lebanon (sarcasm). Also, you all seen/heard the recordings asking UNICEF to accept donations for children in Israel? They reply they only help Gaza, not Israeli children. And an UNWRA school teacher held a hostage captive in his own home.
Not a workable idea for all these other reasons.

I hate to even write this, but this has always been in the back of my head since October 7th. History being the greatest indicator (and if we’re honest with ourselves), we’ve known this would be the global tact. Now it’s up to the people of Israel to do what’s best for them for a change.

What’s not to love about a UN peacekeeping mission? Palestinian children get to enjoy being trafficked by the blue helmets, Europe and America get culturally enriched by young men intent on killing us, NGOs like Catholic Charities get actual rich, Hamas gets cover to prepare for the next attack while Israel is unable to prevent it or retaliate, and the American taxpayer gets to pay for all of it. How can anyone be against that?

Daniel,
What do you think about a large artificial island, paid for by whomever? It or they would cost billions, but it might be the best of bad options. Israel could use the Navy to surveil it, close the bridge during unrest. Maybe several islands. Otherwise, what do you think should be done with Gazans at the end of the war? Egypt doesn’t want to get involved, and I don’t blame it. A PA government is ridiculous from every angle. A coalition of the UN, EU, maybe some Arab countries, would be corrupt and incompetent, but who does that leave? Israel should get out of it entirely, there’s no reason it should participate beyond its own security.

Well UNFIL is doing a terrific job in South Lebanon. Oh, wait. Sorry, my mistake.

Why would they want the UN peeps there – they already have enough rapists!

The UN would just be human shields, at best, like they were in Lebanon. Hezz set up mortars right outside UN ‘peacekeeper’ bunkers and and fired on the Israelis, while the ‘peacekeepers hunkered in their bunkers and prayed the IDF didn’t return fire or bomb them. The UN also scattered in 67 when nasser said boo, as Amiral Gallery said.

Graham Greene has a beautifully written section damning the UN peacekeepers in his book “Ways of Escape”, I think it was from his experiences in the 73 war.
