“We’ve gotta pass a law.”
Right after a mass shooting, lefties jump up to quickly rush through laws that they promise, if enacted, will prevent this from happening again. It never works and their laws are generally, apart from being violations of constitutional rights, are absolutely clueless and ignorant nonsense.
And no one does nonsense like New York’s one-party legislature and its idiot governor who lives in fear of being primaried by leftists.
New Yorkers under age 21 will be prohibited from buying semiautomatic rifles under a new law signed Monday by Gov. Kathy Hochul, making the state among the first to enact a major gun control initiative following a wave of deadly mass shootings.
Hochul also signed a bill Monday that will restrict sales of bullet-resistant vests and armor only to people in certain professions.
“Today is the start, and it’s not the end,” said Hochul. “Thoughts and prayers won’t fix this, but taking strong action will.”
Thoughts and prayers won’t fix Hochul’s complete ineptitude.
During the May 14 attack, Payton Gendron wore a steel-plated vest, an armor strong enough to stop a handgun round fired by a store security guard who tried to halt Gendron’s rampage.
A law hastily enacted by state lawmakers after the attack restricts sales of vests defined as “bullet-resistant soft body armor.”
Soft vests, which are light and can be concealed beneath clothing, can be effective against pistol fire. Vests carrying steel, ceramic or polyethylene plates, which can potentially stop rifle rounds, aren’t explicitly covered by the legislation.
That has left some retailers confused about what they can and can’t sell — and lawmakers talking about a possible fix.
Geniuses, one and all. Absolutely the people we can entrust our government and our rights to.
