“There will be no laughter, except the laugh of triumph over a defeated enemy. There will be no art, no literature, no science. When we are omnipotent we shall have no more need of science. There will be no distinction between beauty and ugliness. There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed. But always… there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — for ever.'”
George Orwell, 1984
In completely unrelated news, after finally compelling the Redskins to abandon their name, they’re moving on to the Texas Rangers.
The Washington Post – Opinion: The Texas Rangers’ team name must go. Members of the Texas Rangers force were violent agents of white supremacy.
Of course.
And if they give in, it’ll be the turn of the Yankees and the Knicks for having names that embody European colonialism. And on and on until all the teams are renamed. And then the process will have to start again. The purpose here is political terror. Nothing constructive. It’s power being excercised for its own sake to perpetuate a crisis which in turn perpetuates the power.
The crisis must be permanent so that the power of the Left will be made permanent.
