The fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban, leaving 15,000 Americans trapped behind enemy lines, has played havoc with Biden’s vacation.
The scripted reassuring speeches chock full of lies have not played well with Americans who are looking at the chaos playing out on their screens.
When Biden falsely claimed, “We have no indication Americans have been unable to get through to the airport”, they were able to easily see that he was lying.
Americans have been assaulted and blocked from getting in. While the British and French have gone to get their people out, Biden’s Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has refused to do so.
There’s now been some administration talk about rescue operations. And Austin finally acknowledged that Biden had been lying, that Americans are being blocked and assaulted.
So it’s time for a third Biden address on the fall of Afghanistan in which he will tout rescue numbers and spread more comforting lies without addressing any of the substantive issues. But you can bet he’ll bring up Beau Biden, whose memory he has shamelessly exploited for his political campaigns over the years, while mixing up his actual military record as a JAG.
What Biden won’t do is tell the truth and take responsibility. It’s the one thing he can’t do.
