How is it possible for any political movement to have so little self-awareness?
“A New Red Scare Is Reshaping Washington,” is the New York Times hit piece on the Committee on the Present Danger.
A new red scare has been reshaping D.C. for years as the Obama administration, loyalists in the DOJ, and elsewhere in the government, and, obviously the media, have been trading hysterical fact-free claims that Russia is secretly behind everything.
Including every election.
But the dismissive term “red scare” makes it obvious that this isn’t about Russia. It’s about China. Whew.
“Once dismissed as xenophobes and fringe elements, the group’s members are finding their views increasingly embraced in President Trump’s Washington, where skepticism and mistrust of China have taken hold. Fear of China has spread across the government, from the White House to Congress to federal agencies, where Beijing’s rise is unquestioningly viewed as an economic and national security threat and the defining challenge of the 21st century,” the Times writes with a straight face.
Here are some New York Times headlines about Russia.
“The Plot to Subvert an Election: Unraveling the Russia Story So Far”
“Opinion | Does Russia Want More Than Your Old Face?”
“A Timeline Showing the Full Scale of Russia’s Unprecedented”
“Inside a 3-Year Russian Campaign to Influence U.S. Voters”

Good thing there’s no xenophobic paranoid red scare problem at the Times.
