The Sandernista revolution has mostly been a miserable failure.
Then Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez beat Joe Crowley, a white politician living in Arlington, VA, in the second most Hispanic district in New York in a Dem primary with low turnout. It was only a question of which unhinged lefty outlet, Salon, Splinter or the New Republic would jump the shark first.
Congratulations, New Republic. You win and lose at the same time.
Can Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez save the planet? – New Republic
Of course she can. With a track record like creating some sort of publishing house that appears to be defunct and winning an election based on her last name, is there anything she can’t do?
The New Republic is ridiculous. But it’s piggybacking on a trend of cult of personality pieces whose lowlights include…

Ocasio-Cortez buried under more than 1,000 media requests after primary win – The Hill
Here’s a dose of reality. Individual freshmen are a dime a dozen, have very little power and influence, and, like Bernie Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez is a political symbol whose actual career shows no particular signs of competence. Also, despite the thousand media requests, she isn’t particularly interesting and has nothing to offer except the phony “Girl from Westchester/Queens/Bronx Shtick”.
Before Alexandria saves the planet, she’s going to need to afford an apartment in D.C.
