The outcome here was never really in doubt.
But it shows the strength of the abortion lobby that nobody except 3 red state Dems, neither of whom are 2020 candidates, budged on a measure that probably 90% of the country would support.
The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act failed 53 to 44. That’s a bill that would compel doctors to treat babies born alive after a failed abortion.
On the Republican side Senator Murkowski was busy washing her hair. As were two others. Not that it would have made much of a difference.
The media is going with the expected, “Democrats voted to kill babies after they’re born and Republicans pounced” angle.
The 2020 Senate Dems did vote that way. There’s really no arguing the point. And the Dems never put up an argument except the usual, “Republicans want to ban us from killing babies because they’re sexist pigs” routine.
Or, as Senator Patty Murray whined, “This bill is government interference in women’s health care, in families’ lives, and in medicine on steroids.”
They really are doubling down on infanticide.
