Between Governor Newsom’s French Laundry party, Governor Whitmer’s boat, Governor Murphy’s dining experience, and Governor Cuomo’s maskless session with Sharpton, it’s easier to find Democrat governors who have violated their own lockdown rules than those who have.
Another day, another Democrat.
Governor John Bel Edwards is facing criticism on social media after a photo of him not wearing a mask in public was circulated online.
During his regularly scheduled coronavirus (COVID-19) news conference Wednesday, the governor said he did nothing wrong and was following all COVID-19 guidelines.
That’s the usual defense.
“He is not in violation of his own orders,” said Deputy Communications Director Shauna Sanford. “He had his mask on the entire time that day, except for when he was eating. Someone said something to him and he responded in a very brief moment. He was not doing anything that goes against his Phase 3 order.”
The photo shows him socializing in close proximity. Edwards and his spokeswoman claims that he caught in flagrante delicto for only a moment. But the photo shows him leaning forward in close proxmity to other people. All the stuff that the official guidelines say you shouldn’t do.
But just as with Newsom, the guidelines are for little people.
