Two things are true.
1. Chris Matthews is a ridiculous blowhard who compensates for his ignorance with vehement pronouncements. That’s a common problem in the talking head industry.
2. Bernie Sanders is surrounded by anti-Semites and has less than zero credibility when invoking the Holocaust just because some family members somewhere were killed in it. Especially since if they were around today, he would be fine with Hamas killing them.
Cue the farce of Chris Matthews comparing the Sanders win in Nevada to the fall of Paris.
“I was reading last night about the fall of France in the summer of 1940,” Matthews said “And the general, Reynaud, calls up Churchill and says, ‘It’s over.’ And Churchill says, ‘How can that be? You’ve got the greatest army in Europe. How can it be over?’ He said, ‘It’s over.'”
Meh. I guess.
This was followed by a bunch of blue checkmarks retweeting a relevant video by Eli Valley, a pro-Bernie anti-Semitic cartoonist who literally recreates Nazi propaganda involving Jews. And then demanding that Chris Matthews resign because Bernie Sanders has some relatives somewhere who died in the Holocaust. And if they hadn’t, Bernie would be happy for Hamas to kill them.
Two things are still true
1. Sandernistas are hysterical hypocrites
2. Chris Matthews is an idiot, but invoking the Fall of Paris does not mean comparing Bernie to Hitler. Though someone should ask Bernie how, as a proud socialist who honeymooned in the USSR, he feels about the Hitler-Stalin Pact.
