Officially, Muslim terrorism doesn’t exist. That’s why Muslim terrorism is widely blamed on everything from airborne PTSD (the Ford Hood massacre) to income issues (the Times Square car bomber) to, in the latest case, a contract dispute.
Here’s how the authorities and the media were trying to spin it earlier in September.
An American Airlines mechanic was arrested Thursday on a sabotage charge accusing him of disabling a navigation system on a flight with 150 people aboard before it was scheduled to take off from Miami International Airport earlier this summer.
The reason, according to a criminal complaint affidavit filed in Miami federal court: Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani, a veteran employee, was upset over stalled union contract negotiations.
After his arrest Thursday, the affidavit says that Alani told federal air marshals assigned to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force that “his intention was not to cause harm to the aircraft or its passengers.”
He said that his motive in tampering with the navigational system was because he was “upset” over stalled contract negotiations between the mechanics’ union and American Airlines that has raged for months — that “the dispute had affected him financially.”
And of course he was believed. The media refused to mention terrorism. FlyerTalk erased comments that even mentioned the word.
Now it turns out that not only does it quack like a duck, but it beheads like a duck too.
An American Airlines mechanic accused of disabling a navigation system on a flight scheduled to take off from Miami International Airport appeared in federal court Wednesday morning, at which time he was denied bond.
According to federal prosecutors, Islamic State group propaganda video showing graphic murders was discovered on Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani’s cellphone.
A co-worker also told government officials that Alani had once said his brother was a member of ISIS and that he traveled to Iraq in March to visit him.
Authorities said at least one of the ISIS propaganda videos was downloaded on Alani’s phone and sent to another person with a message that called for Allah to “use all your might and power against the Kafir,” or non-believer.
…or non-Muslim.
This shockingly unexpected development is only shocking or unexpected to a political culture deeply in denial about Islamic terrorism.
An Iraqi immigrant gets a job as an airline mechanic. This great immigrant success story is then ruined by reality.
