A Belgian writer has recently expressed online his desire to murder every Jew he runs across. He’s been criticized by Jewish groups for this distinctly unpleasant wish, but no other action has been taken against him for inciting murderous violence against Jews. Belgian poet and novelist Herman Brusselmans wrote a column in the site Humo where he said that “I want to ram a sharp knife through the throat of every Jew I meet.”
This brought a lot of criticism, because it is a pretty antisemitic thing to say.
But Al Jazeera’s article about it says “Jewish and right-wing groups attack Belgian writer for sympathizing with Gaza.“
Al Jazeera, as is its wont, lies. Those who attacked Brusselmans did not do so because of his supposedly “sympathizing with Gaza,” but because he declared himself eager to murder Jews — not Israelis alone, but “every Jew I meet.”
The editors of Humo responded to the controversy by saying, “You can’t isolate that one sentence, you have to read the entire column. Then you know immediately that Brusselmans doesn’t mean it literally and therefore doesn’t ‘incite murder’ at all. ….Herman Brusselmans’ statements are part of a satirical column, not a journalistic article or an interview. Brusselmans is a celebrated and respected writer who likes to swear and sneer, eagerly using hyperbole and foul language, but he is not an anti-Semite. Even more than other columns, his should be judged by literary and not journalistic standards. With satirical writers such as Herman Brusselmans, the writing should never be taken one hundred percent literally.”…
Of course. How can you call Brusselmans, a “celebrated and respected writer,” of antisemitism? According to the editors of Humo, the online magazine where Brusselmans published his offending piece, he “is not an antisemite.” Judge him by literary standards, and you will see that the statement “I want to stab in the throat every Jew I meet” cannot possibly be taken at face value. It’s a joke, a satire. Nothing more. Why are Jews so lacking in a sense of humor? Brusselmans says:
I am working hard on my upcoming collection ‘Zat genoeg om met een duivelswijf te poepen’ (Drunk enough to f**k with an ugly woman). It contains impressions, opinions, descriptions, reviews, objective observations, essays, columns and scattered bits of poetic prose….
An entrancing title, I’m sure you’ll agree: “Drunk enough to f**k with an ugly woman.” Brusselmans has a keen eye for the poetic.
Despite this, I keep a clear mind, and so I follow the reality of the day closely. It does not escape me either that a Third World War is coming. The Middle East will explode, with nefarious consequences for the rest of the globe. And all because of a small, fat, bald Jew who bears the ominous name of Bibi Netanyahu, and who for whatever reason wants to ensure that the entire Arab world is wiped out. For every Hamas or Hezbollah fighter who is killed by that Israeli s***ty army, hundreds of innocent civilians are killed, and we can do nothing but keep repeating that many of them are children, and that we here, in the so-called safe West, cannot imagine that the same fate would befall our children. I see an image of a crying and screaming Palestinian boy, completely out of his mind, calling for his mother who is lying under the rubble, and I imagine that boy is my own son Roman , and the mother is my own girlfriend Lena , and I get so angry that I want to ram a sharp knife through the throat of every Jew I meet….
In Brusselmans’ view, the Middle East “will explode” not because of Iran’s determination to wipe out Israel, both by using its proxies — the Houthis in Yemen, Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon — to attack Israel, and now itself preparing to attack the Jewish state directly with its vast arsenal of weapons, but because Israel has dared to fight back against those who would destroy it. Prime Minister Netanyahu is neither “small” nor “fat” nor “bald”; the IDF is not “a s***ty army” but, according to Professor John Spencer and Colonel Richard Kemp, “the most moral army in the world.” The Israelis do not deliberately kill civilians in Gaza, but make colossal efforts, through leafletting, text messaging, and telephone calls, to warn them away from places about to be targeted for attack. Hamas, on the other hand, by embedding itself, its weapons, and its rocket launchers among civilians and in civilian buildings, including apartment houses, schools, mosques and hospitals, always and everywhere tries to increase civilian casualties. It wants to exploit those dead civilians as part of its propaganda war against Israel.
Brusselmans is not being satirical when he insists that he feels like “stabbing every Jew in the throat.” He is expressing a murderous antisemitism that cannot after the fact be excused as “satire.” What, after all, could such a statement be “satirizing”? Does anyone believe that Brusselmans is “satirizing” murderous antisemites or is he, in fact, expressing his own views? These latest writings are nothing less than an incitement to murder. Will the Belgian media and political elites denounce Brusselmans’ Nazi-like antisemitism, or give him, as I fear will happen, a pass because, you see, he’s a “writer,” and therefore a verbal artist to whom all, no matter how evil, must be permitted?

Tell Brusselmans you don’t have to be drunk to **** an ugly woman. Hevshould read Bemjamin Franklin’s “Reasons for Preferring an Elderly Mistress.”
And don’t forget Franklin’s last reason for marrying an older woman. “She will be so grateful.”

This is an example of free speech that borders upon incitement of violence, if he had said the same against muslims he would not be around much longer.
A minor point, but not irrelevant. This character has a son (or thinks he does) with his “girlfriend”. I know this is common today, but it still does not represent the most refined class in society. What will he do when Lena decides one day that she is not his “girlfriend” anymore?
I really think the meaning of the word “satire” is lost on people like the editors of Humo, or else they are consciously trying to change that definition. They seem to be using it in the sense of “exaggeration” or maybe “emotional outburst”, completely different ideas from “satire”.
Leftists have been hijacking and manipulating the language for years. It’s only “satire” because he says it is. He may not be the one doing the stabbing he satirically desires but he won’t be disappointed when someone else does it after getting a “big laugh” from his article. Of course, his satire will be dismissed as the “motive” authorities can’t determine as the reason for such crimes.
What happened when Charlie Hebdo decided to make satirical comment on a certain demographic? And it wasn’t the Jews, he’ll no doubt be relieved to remember.

Both Flanders and Wallonia in Belgium have banned kosher slaughter of meat, although halal slaughter is of course legal. As far back as the early 1980s, a Belgian insurance company argued that it was not obliged to pay damages on an insurance claim filed by a synagogue that was subject to a “Palestinian” terrorist attack. Fortunately, Brussels is the first major city in Western Europe that will have a Muslim majority (aptly, it is headquarters of the European Union) so it’s curtains for the lot of them Brusselmans is going to get the Belgium he deserves.

Maybe because there’s a link between demon possession and madness? It took me a long time to notice that one of the Gospel accounts of the man whose demons were sent into the Gadarene swine was written by Luke the physician. Now, Luke would obviously have shared the medical beliefs of his time – but the fact remains that he has no problem with recording that a man who, in modern parlance, would have been suffering from paranoid schizophrenia with command hallucinations, was healed by a one-off exorcism, despite what Luke himself must have seen of the intractability of such conditions in other circumstances. And the fate of the pigs is clear evidence that something real and malign was driven out. So if exorcism worked – what does that say about causation?
Where do these haters come from? What fuels their murderous vitriol? The answer to both questions is spiritual. Having over thrown all moral authority, they see anyone that is successful as a criminal. Beneath the surface of their hatred is a self hatred far exceeding that which they profess against Jews, earth’s representatives of God’s history and the redemption God has prepared.
