When you have the facts on your side, argue the facts. When you don’t have the facts, argue what the real meanings of words are. What is the definition of “sex” or “it” or “ransom” anyway?
Let me check the Oxford English Dictionary.
“The sum or price paid or demanded for the release of a prisoner or hostage”
Iran demanded $6 billion for the release of 5 U.S. hostages through the form of a waiver on money moved to Iran through South Korea.
According to the Biden administration however even though this is a sum paid for the release of a prisoner, it’s not a ransom.
“This is not a payment of any kind. This is not a ransom. These aren’t U.S. taxpayer dollars,” John Kirby, a White House spokesman, said.
It’s very clearly a payment. Just look at a criminal case and see. It’s also a ransom, though woke dictionaries being what they are, I imagine Oxford will update shortly to specify, “The sum or price paid or demanded for the release of a prisoner or hostage when rendered in taxpayer dollars” or some nonsense like that.
The pros in the Biden administration have been playing this game for a long time.
The Obama administration claimed that it didn’t break the law because it was using foreign currency in its infamous pallets of cash and that it wasn’t a ransom payment because it was ‘Iran’s money’.
The only difference is that Biden feels even less need than Obama to hide what he’s doing.
The media is echoing Biden’s spin complete with the nonsense claims that the ransom payment will be used strictly for “humanitarian aid”.
:Let’s check in with the President of Iran.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said his government will decide how it will spend $6 billion in previously frozen funds due to be released in a prisoner exchange agreement with the U.S., telling NBC News’ Lester Holt that the money will be spent “wherever we need it.”
In response to Raisi’s remarks, a senior Biden administration official said the released funds would first be transferred to Qatar. The Treasury Department would then track all transactions closely to ensure the money is used exclusively for humanitarian purposes.
“It’s going to be held in a bank in Qatar and each transaction will be monitored by U.S. Treasury — transaction by transaction,” the official said. “It’s for humanitarian aid only.”
Qatar is an Islamic terror state that has also bought up half of D.C. And these same folks kept promising us that the money falling into the hands of the Taliban and Hamas could only be used for “humanitarian aid”.
Now let’s flash back to 2016 when Obama got up and lied to the nation about also not paying ransom.
“We do not pay ransom. We didn’t here, and we won’t in the future,” Obama claimed.
He did. And his successor is.
Perhaps Biden will be locked up soon…long prison sentence…and there he can write his memoirs…’Memoirs of a Donkey”’.
I assume the trifecta of treason, bribery and high crimes & misdemeanors justifies the gallows.

It isn’t ransom. It is jizzya – payment of extra taxes for being infidels.

Somebody might want to define fungibility for Kirby. The man was a Rear Admiral. This position seems like a real comedown.
The honorable thing would be resignation.
The flag officer thing gave Kirby a measure of credibility, but also it gave him that military authority to yell and to silence anyone who questions his answers. Andrew Jackson had that unquestioned authority to silence too.
It doesn’t matter what the administration calls it. It matters what Iran thinks.
And Iran thinks they can use it to support terrorism.
This administration may suck at everything else, but they have Orwellian NEWSPEAK down to an art form, putting their particular stank on every topical word chosen. Releasing these funds is as much a ransom as “diversity, equity and inclusion” is racism, as “women’s reproductive rights” is killing babies, as “green energy” is a gas tax, as “Bidenomics” is an additional inflationary tax, as “white supremacy” is conservative Americans, as a “secure border” is no border, as “trans rights” is genital mutilation, and on and on and….
Basically, take WHATEVER they say, flip it’s meaning 180 degrees, and you’re much closer to the truth that the words they utter.
Yeah, the inversion principle. Take what they say, and invert it, for your starting point.
