You may remember Iran Envoy Rob Malley from terrorism scandals such as these.
During the 2008 election, the Obama campaign dropped Robert Malley as an adviser over his work with Hamas on behalf of George Soros’ International Crisis Group. Once in office, Obama brought back his old buddy into the National Security Council.
Malley then became the lead negotiator for the sellout deal to legitimize Iran’s nuclear program.
Despite vocal criticism from Iranian dissidents and the country’s freedom movement, Biden chose Malley as his special envoy to Iran. Even as Robert Malley continues conducting outreach to the Islamic terrorist state on behalf of the Biden administration, his son works at a pro-Iran organization tied to a key figure in the Iran Lobby.
Recently it came out that Rob Malley had been under investigation for mishandling classified information. Instead of coming clean about this, the Biden administration lied to cover up the FBI investigation.
Earlier this year, two sources said, the State Department ramped up its own investigation into Malley’s handling of classified information, which led to his clearance being suspended within the last two months…
The move to suspend Malley’s security clearance was not communicated widely within the State Department or across the Biden administration, as the department kept him in his role and made no official announcements about replacing him. Some officials at the State Department were told that Malley was handing personal matters, which is why he had taken a back seat on the Iran portfolio, two State Department officials and a third person who was briefed told CNN.
Officially, Malley remained the special envoy. Unofficially he couldn’t handle classified information so he had to be sidelined at some events. But it’s still not clear what he was doing or wasn’t doing.
And the Biden administration didn’t just lie to State Department personnel, but to members of the Senate.
The clearance suspension and FBI scrutiny signal that whatever happened — or is suspected to have happened — wasn’t minor.
It’s rare for someone to have their security clearance suspended over a single mistake relating to classified material, according to former U.S. officials familiar with diplomatic security. People usually get a warning the first time, sometimes multiple times, if the offense is deemed minor.
And the Biden administration’s attempt to obscure the situation —by first neglecting to tell lawmakers and then calling it a personal leave — has some accusing the State Department of deception.
The State Department hasn’t confirmed when Malley lost authorization to view classified material, access that was essential for him as Washington’s top interlocutor with Tehran.
But Malley’s security clearance appears to have been suspended in late April or early May. A U.S. official said he went on a partial paid personal leave in late April. But until late June, Malley continued doing State Department work, including giving media interviews.
Malley’s changing role first drew attention from Congress when he didn’t participate in a May 16 briefing to senators.
When lawmakers’ offices asked about Malley’s absence, “We were told, ‘It’s extended personal leave’ with hints of, ‘Well, you know, it’s medical, we can’t talk about it,’” a Hill staffer told POLITICO. “It was deliberately done as a hand-waving thing.” Another congressional staffer said they received a similar response. Officials at State also told journalists Malley had taken a personal leave.
A major in misleading with a minor in straight-out lying.
Senators are not government employees, they’re members of the government. They had an absolute right to be told the truth. Instead they were misled in order to cover up the fact that a top Biden administration figure was being investigated by the FBI for mishandling classified information. The play here was to quickly wrap up the investigation, restore Malley’s status and then no one would be the wiser. This is what a cover-up looks like.
Did the Biden administration confine itself to lying for Malley or did it also pressure the FBI to clear him?
It would be hard to believe that the administration would be willing to stage a cover-up for the Senate and the State Department, but not pressure the FBI to give Malley a pass. That means the big revelations may still be coming.

Reminds me of the actually pretty enjoyable movie, “Clueless.” Her lawyer dad was happier that she talked her way into a better grade, than if she had earned it.
Jeff Bargholz says
Am I the only one who notices how ugly Malley is? He looks like an alien’s asshole. I bet he craps out his mouth.
CowboyUp says
It doesn’t even matter if they lied under oath. The GOPe will get some tv face time, and do nothing. The msm will cover and excuse.
Raymond in DC says
Beyond making a stink about this and call for some firings, all they can do is make a criminal referral to the DoJ, which will elect not to investigate, never mind prosecute.
Kasandra says
Malley’s history should have precluded him from his role in this, or any, administration. It’s significant Biden and his handlers ever appointed him. Yet they did. So, you can expect that the FBI will find that they could not prove that he intentionally wanted to undermine U.S. national security when he gave the Iranians our negotiating strategy or information on U.S. or Israeli military preparations or planning, or whatever it is that he did, and will not recommend he be prosecuted or fired. Seen this movie before.
CowboyUp says
“…the FBI will find that they could not prove that he intentionally wanted to undermine U.S. national security…” – The most telling thing about that kind of thing, and comer and the hillary case, is that intent is irrelevant to that law, and has long been ruled so. Granted, I haven’t had access to classified documents in 30 years, but that was a big point that was heavily stressed when I did, and people have gone to prison as late as 10 years ago for accidentally mishandling classified documents. The clinton case proved conclusively that comer was crooked and we have a compromised two tiered justice system.
commonsense says
You mean Comey, not Comer.
Steven Brizel says
Malley in all likelihood probably revealed information about American national security and Israe;li ,miliitary prepaedness to his friends inTeheran who subsidize Hamas -but you won’t see this DOJ or FBI touch him with a ten foot pole
Ed Snider says
Robert Malley’s father was a Syrian Jew who adored Gamel Nasser, and became a leader of the Egyptian communist party. His son, as Daniel mentions, is a stooge in the Iran lobby. Three generations (so far) of vile Jew-haters in one miserable family. It’s a sad commentary that the worst antisemites so often are apikoros Jews.
Cat says
A lot like the Soros family.
Especially bad as it fuels (non Jewish) anti-Semitism which doesn’t ever need additional fuel.
Jeff Bargholz says
“Apikoros.” I had to look that one up.
Nothing to be proud of, that’s for sure.
commonsense says
Robert Malley has a Sephardic Jewish background; his father was a Jew from Egypt, a country which drove out or killed its entire numerically significant Jewish population through a series of pogroms which began with the establishment of Israel. His animus toward Israel and support for the Mullahs (at the expense of our own nation) are both unfathomable and irredeemably evil. Evidently, his twisted world view is shared by his son. Unsurprisingly, the baneful, treasonous, America-and-Israel-hating Obama favored and protected Malley.
Jeff Bargholz says
Malley is probably snorting lines of coke with the ayatollah and he still has his job? Only in the Beijing Biden administration. I heard they give out crack and pipes to all the White House visitors. It’s not like old Alzheimer Joe could be more decrepit. Maybe the coke puts some pep in his shambling step.
And we tolerate it.
Chief Mac says
I find this statement very odd “It’s rare for someone to have their security clearance suspended over a single mistake relating to classified material, according to former U.S. officials familiar with diplomatic security.” When I had a security clearance of course all it took was a single mistake to not only lose that clearance, but get decades in prison
Daniel Greenfield says
apparently the rules are different for diplomats, which is revealing
Una Salus says
If they lied they lied to a receptive audience.
Una Salus says
Biden Admin lied. That’s like saying birds fly.
Jeff Bargholz says
And saying shit stinks.
Steven Brizel says
I think that Malley was cauight red handed transferring such information and the powers that be had no choice =but to either lift his securiity clearance or deal with a major scandal as to why Malley, given his pro Iran and Hamas sentiments was chosen as the negotiator, and what information he transferred, how often and to who he transferred the information. I don;t think that Malley will ever work in a capacity that requires security clearance as a result of his having two strikes-contacting Hamas during the 2008 presidential campaighn while working for Obama and this incident;.
Steven Brizel says
I think that what happened was there was first hand undeniable proof of Malley making such transfers and that the administration decided that lifting Malley’s clearance was a far more palatable option than hearings and a possible prosecution as to when, how often, and to who the infiormation was transferred.
