Biden is willing to buy oil from anyone, Venezuela, Iran, and Russia, just not Americans.
After being condemned for the hypocrisy of buying Russian oil while imposing “sanctions”, the Biden administration has flirted with the idea of buying Iranian oil and is now headed for Venezuela to make nice with Maduro.
Senior U.S. officials on Saturday went to Venezuela, a Russian ally, to meet with the government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, people familiar with the matter told The New York Times.
A delegation including senior State Department and White House officials is traveling to the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, sources told the Times.
Maduro is a murderous socialist dictator who has terrorized his own people and the leader of a drug cartel targeting the United States.
It wasn’t all that long ago that the United States had rejected the idea that Maduro headed a legitimate government and had recognized his opponent. The message now is that if you outwait our sanctions and political pressure, we’ll ignore them next time around.
What’s the message there to Putin?
Maduro has also signaled that he would be open to restarting Venezuela’s oil trade with the U.S. as President Biden mulls reducing U.S. imports of Russian oil.
“Here lies the oil of Venezuela, which is available for whomever wants to produce and buy it, be it an investor from Asia, Europe or the United States,” Maduro said Thursday, according to the Times.
Anyone except Americans, right Joe?
Maduro might want the release of some of his pals who are in our custody due to the drug business, but considering how many Al Qaeda terrorists Biden freed from Gitmo, this should be no big deal.
