First, the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Trump sent up a trial balloon about banning gas stoves.
The media accused Republicans of playing “identity politics” with gas stoves while insisting that
1. Nobody wants to ban gas stoves
2. Gas stoves are dangerous and should be banned
3. Running a million pieces about how awesome cooking with electric is
That made it very obvious that banning gas stoves is still on the table and various arms of the Biden administration are circling around like vultures trying to figure out how to do what multiple lefty cities have already done.
Here’s the Energy Department.
The Energy Department proposal, published Wednesday, sets first-of-their-kind limits on energy consumption for the stoves, drawing fear from the industry that the regulation could effectively end the use of some products from the market. The proposal also sets energy usage standards for electric cook tops and new standards for both gas and electric ovens.
“This approach by DOE could effectively ban gas appliances,” said Jill Notini, a vice president with the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, a Washington-based trade group. “We are concerned this approach could eliminate fully featured gas products.”
That’s the goal here.
The Left is creative and it controls the administrative state, especially anything involving ‘pollution’ and ‘efficiency’ so it’ll come at this from multiple angles, but it will, unless Republicans fight back, get its way.
This is a war with not just the folks in the White House, but an entrenched radical bureaucracy that needs to be rooted out.
For a start, Republicans might consider doing to the DOE what the Trump administration did to the Bureau of Land Management. Move it somewhere to the boondocks so that a whole bunch of the bureaucrats quit rather than leave D.C. And zero the salaries of any top officials who attach themselves to proposals like this.
Because make no mistake about it, they will get this way. And not just on this, but on everything including a ban on cars.
When you don’t fight totalitarians, they win and you lose everything.

Pick a hill, any hill, to die on. Gas stoves are as good a choice as another when it comes to fighting back for a change.

The local bus agency just bought 10 new electric buses for about a million each.
Just a few years ago they bought a whole fleet of near-zero emission natural gas powered buses.
Daniel Greenfield says
The new buses won’t work as well, but the pols and agency heads will point to their environmental commitment.
Algorithmic Analyst says
Thanks Daniel, that got me thinking, what happens if the batteries in one of those buses catches fire?
Jeff Bargholz says
You beat me to it!
OldDude says
If the bus catches fire the media will report the number of asthmatic children theoreticallykilled by the CO2 produced. And they will ignore the actual deaths of bus riders.
CowboyUp says
It’s happened already, in California, if I remember correctly. Bus mostly melts, and gives off lots of toxic burning plasic fumes. From the aftermath picture I saw, I was surprised at how little metal is in the things. Makes me wonder how safe they are in an accident.
Jeff Bargholz says
Ten bucks says at least one of them bursts into flames.
Algorithmic Analyst says
Another reason not to ride the bus. I was trying to think, what would be the best seat to get off quickly in case of fire? I guess the middle seats, near the middle door?
Jeff Bargholz says
Yes, exactly.
When I fly, I always select my seat as soon as possible; right by the emergency exit on the port side. Not only is it presumably the safest but they’re also the only ones with leg room, which is the real reason I choose them. And if you have to use the bathroom, you don’t inconvenience the people seated by you and they don’t inconvenience you when they go. When I’m seated with my legs outstretched, I always notice other passengers who board after me look at me with jealousy. Too bad, you guys should’ve thought of it.

Why do you call this man “president” when he obviously isn’t? It’s because you lack integrity. You want to be seen as “normal” and “rational” by liars and cowards.
So who cares if he “bans” stoves? He has no more right to ban a stove than you or I. The man is illegitimate and conspired to steal the election.
What is the penalty for that? Does anyone know? Does anyone care? No, you don’t. you talk a big show, but when push comes to shove you put your head down and mumble b/c at heart you are all a bunch of frauds.
Jeff Bargholz says
Good luck screwing over the gas companies and the tens of millions of people who can’t afford to replace their gas stoves. These totalitarian lunatics will try, though.
And like you wrote, they won’t stop there. There’s no end to the things they’d like to ban and they’ll continue to think of more. And microwaves are dangerous, not gas stoves.
Algorithmic Analyst says
Yeah, what comes next? What do they ban next?
Jeff Bargholz says
Everything except electrically powered whatevers, I reckon.
Algorithmic Analyst says
Once electricity is the only legal energy source, they can set up a bureaucracy filled with their toadys, to schedule rolling blackouts.
I think I read that the electric grid in South Africa and maybe some other countries is already failing in part.

“You own nothing and you will be happy” In Europe nitrogenous fertilizer was declared suddenly illegal for Dutch farmers to use. There were widespread farm failures, and when the farmers had to sell, the Dutch government showed up as first bidder offerring discounted prices. A cut to the food supply and a nationalization of private land in with deft tactical move.
In the USA with our constitution, government cannot do this directly, so it outsources such moves to private sector ‘contractors (e.g., Google, Facebook, Twitter, and other tech cos. to effectuate online censorship and 24/7 surveillance) in combination with enacting regulations on the people. So here’s how the White House will use gas stoves, and other measures, as a means to take your house: https://riskenvelope.net/2023/01/18/the-gas-stove-kerfuffle/
