Biden may not have a better economy than President Trump. Or a better anything. He does have one area he’s number one in.
The number of U.S. Covid-19 deaths recorded in 2021 has surpassed the toll in 2020, according to federal data and Johns Hopkins University, demonstrating the virus’s persistent menace.
The total number of reported deaths linked to the disease topped 770,800 on Saturday, Johns Hopkins data show. This puts the pandemic-long total at more than twice the 385,343 Covid-19 deaths recorded last year, according to the most recent death-certificate data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
You’ll see different numbers on different sites for all the usual reasons, but everyone agrees that 2021 numbers topped 2020.
Freedom Summer has since given way to Mandate Winter, but the cases still continue to rise. Aside from wrecking basic services during a supply chain meltdown and worker shortage, mandates have accomplished very little.
The public is angry and as a winter surge approaches, the approach of trying to serve up unvaccinated people as scapegoats is failing.
It’s gotten so bad that Biden’s people are trying to blame all his problems on that failure to distract from all the other failures.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki claimed Monday that President Biden’s public approval rating is falling largely because of the ongoing effects of the coronavirus pandemic rather than the administration’s economic policies or priorities.
“Well, we think, one, there’s a couple factors,” Psaki said when asked to explain a Washington Post-ABC News poll published Sunday that showed Biden’s approval rating at 41 percent, with 53 percent of respondents disapproving.
“One is people are still — there’s a fatigue from COVID,” the press secretary added. “We see that in poll after poll … People are sick and tired of COVID and the impacts on the economy. We understand that; we’re tired of it too. That’s why this is the number-one priority, [it] continues to be getting COVID under control.”
And nothing says getting COVID under control like the Dem policy priorities of…
1. Federalizing elections
2. Banning misgendering
3. $250,000 electric car chargers and e-bike subsidies
