America’s international standing would be enormously improved if Biden could just keep his mouth shut.
The problem isn’t that his aides spend too much time keeping him locked up in a Delaware basement, it’s that they ever let him out at all.
Biden or at least his people responded to Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan by ringing every bell, planting hit pieces in the media against their own ally and echoing Chinese talking points about her recklessness.
The administration either did this is the genuine hope of stopping her or of appeasing Beijing by putting on a good show of trying to stop her.
I’m not sure which is worse.
Now that it happened and WW3 didn’t begin, Biden has more things to say.
President Biden on Monday said he’s “not worried” about China’s aggressive response to Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) trip last week to Taiwan, adding that he doesn’t think things will escalate any further between the U.S. and Beijing.
“I’m not worried, but I’m concerned that they’re moving as much as they are. But I don’t think they’re going to do anything more,” Biden told reporters.
Really, Susan. I know you’re running this administration. Just keep him in the basement.
After frantically trying to stop Pelosi, thereby showing weakness to China, Biden is now, in typically stupid fashion, trying to take a victory lap, thereby taunting China.
This is the same dumb routine he pulled with Russia. With disastrous results.
Serious leaders telegraph strength and they don’t taunt. Biden projects weakness and then invites the enemy to call his bluff.
You don’t declare that China won’t do anything. What you do is assert your own capabilities.
It’s hard to be even worse at foreign policy than Obama, but Biden has mastered it.
