Why didn’t the networks air Biden’s rant against half the country? 

Broadcast networks ABC, NBC, and CBS aired their regularly-scheduled programs Thursday, instead of President Joe Biden’s angry, divisive speech attacking Make America Great Again (MAGA) Americans.

Biden’s people had tried to talk the networks into carrying the campaign speech attacking everyone who disagreed with him as a threat to democracy. Instead, the Bezos Post complains, they aired reruns.

While President Biden warned the nation about threats to democracy in a prime time address on Thursday, ABC was airing a game show, “Press Your Luck.” As Biden spelled out his objections to former president Donald Trump and “MAGA Republicans,” NBC was broadcasting a rerun of “Law and Order.” CBS skipped the speech to show a rerun of “Young Sheldon.”

Only CNN and MSNBC aired Biden’s speech. It’s a safe bet that Biden lost to a Young Sheldon rerun.

People involved in negotiations over Thursday’s address said the networks deemed Biden’s remarks as “political” in nature and therefore decided not to televise it. These people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive discussions, cited the speech’s criticism of Trump — Biden’s possible political opponent in 2024 — and its timing two months before the midterm elections.

Did NBC, CBS and ABC suddenly develop a sense of propriety? I don’t believe it and neither should you. As the Post points out, the networks aired the J6 hearings.

So why wouldn’t they air this spectacle?

1. It was terrible.- Between the red lighting, the hackneyed script, the armed men behind him, the whole thing looked like a film student movie about a fascist takeover. And the networks were actually doing Biden and more importantly their side a favor by not airing it.

2. They don’t want to prop up Biden – Like most Democrats, the networks want Biden to drop out instead of run for reelection.  And they understand that Biden is doing this to gain clout with Democrats. And to a limited degree it’s working. The networks believe the best way to beat the Republicans in 2024 is to have anyone except Biden be their candidate. So they’re not going to participate in a PR campaign to help Biden, even though they’re on board with propaganda campaigns to hurt Trump.

And so Young Sheldon aired instead of a senile wannabe dictator threatening America.
