“Biden-Harris Administration Announces Initial Actions to Address the Gun Violence Public Health Epidemic,” a “fact sheet,” released on April 7, cites an “historic spike in homicides, violence that disproportionately impacts Black and brown Americans.” Five times the statement decries “gun violence,” a formulation notably absent from pronouncements by Joe Biden when he was vice president to the composite character David Garrow described in Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama.
On November 5, 2009 at Fort Hood, Texas, Maj. Nidal Hasan, a self-described “soldier of Allah,” gunned down 13 unarmed American soldiers, including Pvt. Francheska Velez, who pleaded for the life of her unborn child. Major Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, wounded more than 30 others, including Sgt. Alonso Lunsford, shot seven times.
For the composite character president, it was a case of “workplace violence,” not terrorism or even gun violence. The victims included African Americans and Hispanics, but the president did not denounce the mass murder as a racist hate crime.
Vice president Joe Biden, who also would have received a swift and thorough briefing on the Fort Hood attack, expressed sympathy for “the families of the brave soldiers who fell today,” in what was a “senseless tragedy.” Biden failed to mention the shooter Nidal Hasan, or associate the attack with Islamic terrorism. The victims included “Black and brown Americans” but Biden failed to name a single one. Hasan’s mass murder prompted no denunciation of “gun violence” from the Delaware Democrat, who knew more than he let on.
As the 2012 Lessons from Fort Hood reveals, the FBI knew that Maj. Hasan was conspiring with terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki to kill American soldiers but did nothing to stop him. That prompted no revision from vice president Biden about the soldiers who “fell” in the “senseless tragedy.” When running for president, Biden ignored Islamic terrorism and targeted the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans.
During the 2020 campaign, Biden rival Beto O’Rourke went on record that “hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15.” For his part, Biden said if he took office, Beto O’Rourke would be heavily involved in federal gun control efforts. When a Michigan autoworker questioned Biden’s commitment to the Second Amendment, Biden told the worker “You’re full of shit,” and the candidate claimed he would not take away anybody’s guns.
“I support the Second Amendment,” Biden said, but “the Second Amendment — just like right now, if you yell ‘fire,’ that’s not free speech.” That is actually a First Amendment issue, and as comedian Dave Chappelle explains, “First Amendment is first for a reason. Second Amendment is just in case the first one doesn’t work.” Under Biden-Harris, the first openly composite administration, both constitutional amendments stand in peril.
According to the April 7 “fact sheet,” within 30 days the Justice Department will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of “ghost guns.” As Biden-Harris have it “criminals” are buying ghost-gun “kits” and these untraceable firearms “turn up at crime scenes,” by implication, all by themselves. The fact sheet has offers no statistics on how many such guns were actually used in crimes.
Biden-Harris proposes no stricter punishments for violent criminals, who do not follow gun laws or immigration laws. Biden-Harris has essentially discarded those laws by proclaiming that illegal immigrants are “already Americans” and inviting all comers into the United States. The new arrivals included two Yemeni men on a terrorist watchlist, arrested near a port of entry in California.
Biden-Harris is keeping reporters away from the border and to date has not issued a fact sheet on how many foreign nationals the administration is allowing into the country. According to the fact sheet, gun violence is a “public health epidemic” but Biden-Harris believes opening the border during the Covid-19 pandemic poses no danger to the American public.
In similar style, Biden-Harris is not tracking how many of the “already American” illegals are violent criminals, terrorists, sexual predators and such. Based on past experience, should any terrorists gain entry and shoot down one, five, or 13 Americans, Joe Biden would say they “fell” in a senseless tragedy.
In 2015, Islamic terrorists Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik gunned down 14 people and wounded more than 20 in San Bernardino, California. Vice president Biden did not decry the attack as gun violence that was part of some public health epidemic. California attorney general Kamala Harris failed to name any of the 14 victims, who included “Black and brown Americans” and did not call the massacre a terrorist hate crime.
On the other hand, attorney general Kamala Harris did hold a press conference with officials from the Muslim Public Affairs Council and the Council on American-Islamic Relations. They decried “Islamophobic and xenophobic rhetoric” that had made Muslim communities “an easy target for hate crimes.”
Based on the record, Biden-Harris will be looking the other way at Islamic terrorism while restricting the ability of law-abiding Americans to defend themselves. Every year under this tandem will be a year of living dangerously.
