Why settle for supporting one Communist dictator, when you can support all of them?
Fresh off appeasing China and Maduro’s Venezuela, the Biden junta is turning its attention to Cuba.
On Monday, the Biden administration announced a series of measures they believe will “increase support for the Cuban people and safeguard our national security interests.”
Or just the opposite. This allows moving more money into Cuba. That bails out the Communist regime. Again.
Within minutes of the announcement, New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez, a democrat, criticized the Biden administration for the changes.
“I am dismayed to learn the Biden administration will begin authorizing group travel to Cuba through visits akin to tourism. To be clear, those who still believe that increasing travel will breed democracy in Cuba are simply in a state of denial,” Menendez said.
“For decades, the world has been traveling to Cuba and nothing has changed. For years, the United States foolishly eased travel restrictions arguing millions of American dollars would bring about freedom and nothing changed. And as I warned then, the regime ultimately laughed off any promises of loosening its iron grip on the Cuban people and we ended up helping fund the machinery behind their continued oppression,” he added.
There’s nothing foolish about it.
The Left doesn’t want Cuba to become democratic. It just pretends to use this as a rationale to justify enabling the Communist dictatorship. And restoring tourism allows its lefty base to enjoy partaking of the fruits of socialism.
Foreign tourists, especially Canadians and Spaniards, are traveling to Cuba in surprising numbers for sex – and not just with adult prostitutes. They are finding underage girls and boys, a joint investigation by The Toronto Star and El Nuevo Herald has found.
Havana’s conspicuous scenes of street-level prostitution are the outward face of a hidden prostitution trade in minors, some as young as 4, some with families complicit in their exploitation, the newspapers found.
There’s a reason they’re grooming kids in this country. It’s just what socialists do.
Senate and House members, both Cuban and non-Cuban, blasted Biden’s move.
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Representatives Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-25), Michael McCaul (TX-10), Mark Green (TN-7), Maria Elvira Salazar (FL-27), and Carlos A. Gimenez (FL-26), along with Senators James Risch (R-ID), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rick Scott (R-FL), and Bill Cassidy (R-LA), issued the following statement on the Biden Administration’s recent announcement providing concessions to the brutal Cuban dictatorship.
During Cuba’s historic anti-regime protests last year, President Biden said ‘[t]he United States stands with the brave Cubans who have taken to the streets to oppose 62 years of repression under a communist regime.’ Yet today, while hundreds of activists remain unlawfully imprisoned, the White House is resurrecting President Obama’s failed policy of unilateral concessions to the Castro/Díaz-Canel criminal dictatorship. Rather than supporting their pleas for freedom by expanding democracy programming, broadcasting, global diplomacy, and sanctions against their oppressors, the Biden White House is rewarding the Western Hemisphere’s longest-ruling communist dictatorship with high-level talks, easing sanctions, increased travel, and access to U.S. financial institutions. Appeasing Cuba’s murderous regime does not comply with the statutory requirements in U.S. law and undercuts America’s support for Cuba’s democratic opposition.
The Biden Administration’s repeated appeasement to the Cuban dictatorship is a betrayal of America’s commitment to human rights and freedom, and to the longsuffering Cuban people who are struggling for a genuine democratic transition.
That won’t stop Biden, who has abandoned any hope of winning the votes of people who don’t like him, and is focused on turning out the radical base.
