That’s some withdrawal.
“I have authorized the deployment of approximately 5,000 US troops to make sure we can have an orderly and safe drawdown of US personnel and other allied personnel and an orderly and safe evacuation of Afghans who helped our troops during our mission and those at special risk from the Taliban advance,” Biden claimed.
Orderly, is it?
The Kabul embassy, which wasn’t supposed to be evacuated yet, is frantically destroying all classified materials. We’ll see if they manage to destroy it all. History shows that they may not.
And Biden’s withdrawal has turned into a rout. There were supposed to be only 600 or so soldiers. Now thousands are going back in.
Not so long ago, Biden was treating the withdrawal as his achievement. Now he’s blaming it on Trump.
“When I came to office, I inherited a deal cut by my predecessor,” Biden whined in his statement. “Shortly before he left office, he also drew U.S. Forces down to a bare minimum of 2,500. Therefore, when I became President, I faced a choice—follow through on the deal, with a brief extension to get our Forces and our allies’ Forces out safely, or ramp up our presence and send more American troops to fight once again in another country’s civil conflict.”
This is a dumb and pathetic argument.
Biden made his own decision. He was happy to take credit for it until it turned rotten. He’s still trying to have it both ways, insisting that he’s right to leave and blaming President Trump for making him leave.
