I’m a cynical guy so I don’t think this amounts to much. On the other hand, if forces in the Democratic Party wanted to make sure that Biden, who is now a lock for the nomination, has to drop out, this would be one way to do it from inside the house by laundering it through a Trump appointee. Of course, Trump appointee, like Bush appointee or Reagan appointee, doesn’t necessarily mean all that much.
Attorney General Merrick Garland said he is appointing a special counsel — former U.S. attorney Robert Hur — to review the storage of sensitive documents discovered in spaces used by President Joe Biden during the years preceding his return to the White House.
Hur appears reasonably solid, as far as his career track record goes, but he likely got the job due to his connections to Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Wray.
President Trump on Wednesday tapped a high-level Justice Department official, Robert K. Hur, to lead the Maryland U.S. attorney’s office where he was a longtime federal prosecutor.
If confirmed, Hur will take over one of the country’s busiest U.S. attorney’s offices, which has a reputation for handling sophisticated cases involving political corruption, white-collar fraud and vast gang conspiracies that drive violent crime.
Hur has worked closely with Deputy U.S. Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein at Justice Department headquarters and in Maryland and was previously a special assistant to now-FBI Director Christopher A. Wray.
On the other hand, he also left early for private practice, making the announcement in early 2021. That’s not unusual, but strongly suggestive of careerism.
Mr. Hur took office on April 9, 2018. He tendered his resignation to the President and the Acting Attorney General today, and will conclude his service as United States Attorney on February 15, 2021.

Gibson-Dunn is a really well-connected firm whose partners include GOP donors, but also Biden administration appointees. On donor lists, its people give twice as much to Democrats as to Republicans, but that also makes it one of the least Democrat ’tilted’ ‘Biglaw’ firms. It has often represented Republicans and corporate interests.
Hur was senior enough to be referenced in the Steele dossier fallout.
“ADAGs Tashina Gauhar and Scott Schools have some knowledge regarding the FBI’s interactions with Steele. Although former ADAG Bruce Ohr had communications directly with Steele, it is unclear the extent to which he was aware of the FBI’s interaction with Steele. James Crowell, who was previously AIPADAG and COS, may have been briefed on the communications. Former P ADAG Robert K. Hur (now the United States Attorney in Maryland) likely had some familiarity with those communications as well. Current A/PADAG Ed O’Callaghan has some knowledge of the communications also.”
It’s highly likely that anyone aware of Steele also knew what purpose he was being used for.
Maybe Robert Hur will do his job without fear of favor. Or maybe he’s got a career chart. Or, and this is all too likely, like so many of the other top law enforcement people who got tangled up in Russiagate and various scandals, he’ll try to split the difference, leaning toward the Democrat side, while still following the letter of the law. And we know how that tends to end up. Once you start leaning leftward, you fall all the way over.
Robert Hur is a leftwing piece of shit. He has a long history of being a piece of shit. It’s too bad. Hur is a noble name. He looks ethnically Korean to me, which is weird but whatever.

I can’t help but wonder why a big deal is being made of this document scandal? So Biden is stupid & slipshod . Even Barack Obama figured that out a long time time ago. Anyone familiar with Biden knows he has easily skated through far worse than this. Raping a campaign aide jumping naked into the shower with his 9 year old daughter selling the country out to the Chicoms & the russkies. Just to name a few things in a career marked by corruption & lies. I think the democrats are greasing the skids for this guy because he has outlived his usefulness & other democrats poll better in presidential polls.
It could very well that Biden will get the Andrew Cuomo treatment if more documents turn up e;lsewhere and evidence of transmission of these documents to anyone is established
