President Biden left the White House Tuesday night for a tropical vacation in St. Croix to ring in the New Year — as much of the country deals with extreme cold and snowfall that has killed at least 65 people and canceled 10,000 flights since Christmas Eve.
The 80-year-old commander in chief will bask in the Caribbean sun near an in-ground pool at a three-bedroom beachfront villa with sweeping views on the largest of the US Virgin Islands.
Meanwhile, travel chaos, widespread power outages and rising deaths caused by single-digit weather continue across the Midwest and East Coast, but especially in Western New York, where at least 32 people died in Buffalo’s Erie County amid more than 4 feet of snow.
When you actually have an executive role and the country is suffering, a vacation is bad timing. But then again, Biden seems to spend half his time in Delaware or calling lids early so it’s not as if he works much anyway. He’ll probably be as engaged from St. Croix as he will in the White House.
But it still highlights the way that media coverage is a straightforward political campaign that would be no different if it were being composed by the Biden administration. And that it has no principles, only cynical double standards. The only thing the media is truly outraged by is the existence of political dissent.
So let’s just conveniently rewrite one of the media’s Ted Cruz stories.
The president deserted his countrymen to vacation in the Caribbean.
Biden sparked outrage on Thursday for flying from Houston to St. Croix for a vacation even as millions of Americans froze because of a huge winter storm.
Thousands of Twitter posts blasted Biden for the ill-timed jaunt. And memes mocking the vacationing politician quickly spread.
Globalists relax in the tropics while taxpayers starve and freeze to death in the dark.
Isn’t that by design?
Russians know how to freeze. Americans know how to support Trump in the face of the big lib freeze.
So he lambastes the airlines for cancelling flights in the midst of an historic winter storm and then flies off to the Caribbean for a vacation.. Open your eyes, America.
You’ve got to love how he and Buttigieg have promised to hold Southwest airlines “accountable” for cancelling flights. Accountable for what? Just what would they have Southwest do, fly planes with ice on their wings, take off and land at airports with snow and ice covered runways, teleport flight crews from where they are snowed-in to where they are needed? I didn’t see a single reporter even suggest these things. The maladministration obviously want to look like it’s doing something so stupid people will cheer it but doesn’t have a clue about reality, unless it’s trying to pressure Southwest to do unsafe things and get a lot of people killed in the process.
