Biden and his cronies have blamed his problems on oil companies, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the Jews. (Not yet? Wait that’s coming.)
In a typical Obamaesque tantrum, Biden is now whining about his biggest fan club: the media.
“At a fundraiser in Los Angeles last week, Biden bemoaned the decline of traditional news reporting at the expense of the Internet. “There are no editors anymore,” he said. “How do people know the truth?” A week earlier when reporters — this one included — shouted over one another trying to ask Biden questions after a roundtable discussion on abortion, he turned to a participant and said with some exasperation, “Among the only press in the world that does this.”
The European media, or for that matter the Israeli and Latin American media, are a whole lot ruder and more abrasive.
Had Trump offered a criticism of the media, there would suddenly be a lot of fuss about “freedom of the press” and the “threat to journalism”. Since Biden is the one saying it, the press grovels for not having previously groveled hard enough.
Biden does have a point.
Any serious news reporting would have revealed the corruption inherent in his various spending measures and their net contribution to the nation’s runaway inflation.
And basic journalism would have asked questions about Biden’s own mental functioning.
“When Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act in August, he had the press in mind as he said that “too often we confuse noise with substance,” “confuse setbacks with defeat,” and “hand the biggest microphone to the critics and the cynics who delight in declaring failure.”
Obama wants his teleprompter back.
The last thing Ice Cream Guy who tried to deliver a speech about the threat to democracy in front of armed men and red lighting wants is “substance”.
Biden campaigned from his basement and the press has spent his time in office deluging us with more Obamaesque nonsense about his interest in ice cream, his exercise routine and what a loving father and grandfather he is. Most of the public has tuned out this nonsense, forcing the media to occasionally cover Biden’s resentful talking points about inflation.
When it’s not trying to claim that he’s the soul of empathy.
“There has been a fundamental disbelief, particularly among the D.C., east coast press corps, in Biden’s vision, in his strategy, in his tactics, in his ability to do the things that he said he would do,” White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield said in an interview. “There are reams and reams of headlines and tweets from reporters declaring his agenda dead, that he was out of date, he was out of touch with where the country is. And what’s happened is we’ve put together a historically successful set of legislative accomplishments that has defied those expectations.”
There are no American tanks at Baghdad Airport.
The bottom line view for this White House is there are diminishing returns in engaging in more traditional press interactions with members of the Washington press corps that in their view remain “fundamentally skeptical” of Biden’s performance.
Biden hasn’t done much in the way of interviews. Whenever he talks, his aides rush to disavow his comments. All of this is awkward even for a media that bends over backward to lie for the most disgraceful politicians as long as they happen to share their political agenda.
So now Biden will announce that he’s not doing interviews because the press isn’t fair to him. That’s a helpful cover for his mental issues. Too bad, Fetterman didn’t think of that in time.
