Is there any other word for this?
“The vice president had one vocal and unyielding defender in the West Wing: the president’s chief of staff,” the authors write. But even Ron Klain knew something wasn’t working.
The book says he told Harris in the fall of 2021 “that she had erred by holding her Latin American assignment at arm’s length: Yes, he acknowledged, it was a politically delicate portfolio, but there had been an opportunity there for her to take full ownership of something, sink into the policy details and produce results.
That, Klain told Harris, was the way to succeed as a vice president.”
The way to succeed as VP is to be generally inoffensive and have people forget that you’re there except when you’re standing behind POTUS.
What exactly did Biden take ownership of and sink his teeth into?
Handing Kamala a Latin American portfolio, an explosive issue that she had no ability to resolve and that just came with negatives, had one purpose and that was to further humiliate her and destroy her poll numbers.
And it succeeded.
Now, Kamala’s problems are primarily self-made. She polled badly long before she entered the White House, most people find her fake and annoying, but her poll numbers wouldn’t be as bad if she had bided her time and stayed out of sight.
It’s the Biden way.
Instead Biden’s people kept setting her up for a fall to make sure she wouldn’t be able to displace him, and she was apparently too dumb to get it.
