I was going to write about Warner Brothers picking Black-ish boss Kenya Barris to do a Wizard of Oz remake. While Discovery has been shedding some of the woke dead weight, Warner Brothers is still deep in the woke black nationalist business, including with BLM co-founders.
Batgirl may currently be buried, but Ta-Nehisi Coates’ black nationalist superman is probably still coming and the black nationalist Wizard of Oz project is moving forward. Considering the current political insanity, it’s bound to not only racially recast everyone except the inevitable white villains, but also include some drag queens. These days, how could it not?
“Somewhere over the rainbow, indeed! Kenya Barris tells me that LGBTQ representation will be featured in his “Wizard of Oz” remake. “The original was an allegory and a reflection of the way the world was at the time with things like the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl,” says Barris, who will write and direct the reimagining for Warner Bros. “Now we’re going to turn a mirror on where we’re at right now and take disparate characters from the LGBTQ community, from different cultural communities and socioeconomic communities, and tell a story that reflects the world. I think this is the best time to do that.”
If the Wizard of Oz is about anything, it’s about telling a story that “reflects the world”, at least through the lens of lefties whose idea of telling a story is monotonously embedding their talking points into whatever piece of intellectual property they’ve gotten their grubby hands on and then screaming that anyone who doesn’t pay money to go see it is a vile bigot.
At least they’ve been nice enough to announce that the Wizard of Oz remake will be extremely family unfriendly. Why would anyone expect anything else from Warner Brothers these days?
Algorithmic Analyst says
Yeah, on a tangent, I was reading about them making a remake of “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”. How could one possibly do that these days? It couldn’t be as good as the original.
Jeff Bargholz says
Not unless they could find a Robert Redford and Paul Newman to work with the Coen Brothers, which they can’t, even though Redford is still alive.
My brother and I saw a re-release of that in our neighborhood theater when we were eight and nine and loved it. Not all anti-Westerns suck. That one is great.
Algorithmic Analyst says
Yeah, fantastic scenery, etc.
Anyway, about remakes, I liked Steve McQueen movies, such as “The Thomas Crown Affair”. So when they came out with a remake starring Pierce Brosnan, like a fool I bought the DVD. But the remake was terrible compared to the original. But new people probably know the remake more than the original.
Jeff Bargholz says
A remake of “The Getaway” was made too. It had Alec Baldwin and Kim Bassinger in the McQueen and McGraw roles. It was pretty good. Baldwin was a good leading man back in the day.
Did you like the “True Grit” remake? I didn’t think that movie could be done again but it was quite good. John Wayne is a hard act to follow.
Algorithmic Analyst says
Oh, another tangent (sorry about that 🙂
The L. Frank Baum books are probably as good or better than anything since. My neighbor had a large collection from her childhood so I got to read them during my childhood.
Jeff Bargholz says
They are quite good. All the sub themes of the gold and silver standards and whatnot mean nothing to the kids who read them but it doesn’t matter. The books are very entertaining. Again, when I was nine, my teacher read “The Wizard of Oz” and “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” to my class and I loved them. I went after Baum and Dahl’s other stuff after that and loved those too, although I liked Baum better. Dahl was a bit twisted, actually.
FatherGuido says
Why do these people always have to “re-imagine” something like a movie that was a hit? Why can they not make their own story up that tells a story they want people to see? They are very small, weak minded, unimaginative people standing on the shoulders of giants.

The educational system has been turning out miseducated people for years, the vast majority of whom are inept at writing and creating. Most works turned out today seem to be on a junior high school level.

In the future, people may not know there was the original and only see the re-make.
JoeJack says
It’s all in the plan. Google and read “ The 45 Stated Goals for The Communists Takeover Of The United States.”
Cat says
reimagining is instead of toppling a statue, dressing it up as a drag queen….that way they hope everyone forgets the original through interference by of the remake.
It is also highly disrespectful. to the artists of old and to the traditional values.
It is also usually nauseating, awkward and a flop. . .
tom reynolds says
It takes actual talent to be that creative. Simple to take someone elses creation and put some paint on it and claim it as your own.
Ghostwriter says
Oh good grief. I’m not watching this. I wouldn’t see this even if I were paid a million dollars. This has no other reason to exist other than a bunch of woke idiots who vandalize beloved classics all for the sake of their egos. This deserves to bomb and bomb hard.
Intrepid says
Anyone remember The Wiz from the 80s? Yeah, how’d that work out?
This current remake will be heads and shoulders worse that we can imagine. Ease on down the road, into the trashheap of history.
tom reynolds says
At least the music was decent. For what it was…
Kasandra says
I’m getting a premonition – nobody will pay money to see this garbage. It will, however, be awarded numerous Oscars. Forget it, Jake, it’s Hollywood.
minnesoter says
It will lose beaucoup bucks.

Sad. Another great iconic film, completely epic for it’s time, being polluted and desecrated by Progressive ideology. They ruin everything they’re involved in.
David Palmer says
And you wonder why Warner Brothers/Discovery stock is in the toilet and still sinking? The four Warner brothers would never have allowed this to happen.
Westcoaster says
Oh please! Do we need a “re-do” for everyfuckingthing? Spare us the idiocy!
Seekers says
Didn’t Broadway do this decades ago with “The Wiz?” There was a subsequent movie version as well.
THX 1138 says
Yeh, and with Michael Jackson as the scarecrow the movie version was gay, black, and pedophile.
Jeff Bargholz says
LOL!

Communists want to normalize diversity perversity.
They don’t care about profits from a movie.
They’re not Capitalists. They just want to spit on American traditions. They want to be offensive.
Out with the old standards of morality and in your face with their amoral atheistic anti-American Communism.

When they think of it, they’ll probably also throw in a little bestiality. Poor Toto.
Andrew Blackadder says
I guess its just way too difficult for people today to come up with original ideas and themes for movies as they seem to prefer standing on the shoulders of giants and remake every movie.
I have noticed in the films of today there are always such scenes as 1) teeth brushing followed by spitting into the sink bowl, 2), men urinating while speaking to each other, 3) women sitting on the toilet with their Panties at their feet, standing up and wiping themselves, while speaking with somebody, 3) soft porn sex, 4) vomiting for no reason whatsoever, however we get to see the vomit fly out of their mouths.
THIS is what is known as Artistic Licensee today and I guess they teach this at LA Film School.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
