In this social media culture of mass formation psychosis, one hysteria passes and another one comes just as quickly. And no one’s paying attention to what truly matters because the weapons of mass distraction keep detonating.
In, The Only Dangerous Thing About Pelosi’s Taiwan Visit is Her Boss’s Cowardice, I wrote that, “American politicians regularly visit Taiwan. Six senators have visited just this year. Neither of the major papers campaigned against the Taiwan Travel Act. Nor did they condemn the series of congressional delegations that have been visiting the Republic of China. Until now. But when China exercised its heckler’s veto, the Biden administration ran to duck and cover. And the media suddenly decided that visiting Taiwan was suddenly very dangerous business. Communist China is likely to invade Taiwan. It will do so irrespective of whether a daffy California congresswoman sets foot in it or not.”
This was a manufactured crisis. The grifters on all sides who are really on the side of their bank accounts began shouting that WWIII was coming, just as they began shouting that we would soon be in a nuclear war with Russia.
(After 150+ days plus, how’s that nuclear war going?)
And China is closing up its latest theatrical production of “Final Warning 3: This Time We Mean War”.
China on Wednesday repeated military threats against Taiwan while appearing to wind down wargames near the self-governing island it claims as its own territory that have raised tensions between the two sides to their highest level in years.
The message in a lengthy policy statement issued by the Cabinet’s Taiwan Affairs Office and its news department followed almost a week of missile firings and incursions into Taiwanese waters and airspace by Chinese warships and air force planes.
That doesn’t mean China won’t invade Taiwan. But it’ll do so on its own timetable and the last thing we should let China or Russia do is blame us for their own actions.
China is pulling out the big guns by lying a little less.
China has withdrawn a promise not to send troops or administrators to Taiwan if it takes control of the island, an official document showed on Wednesday, signalling a decision by President Xi Jinping to grant less autonomy than previously offered.
China’s white paper on its position on self-ruled Taiwan follows days of unprecedented Chinese military exercises near the island, which Beijing claims as its territory, in protest against U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit last week.
China had said in two previous white papers on Taiwan, in 1993 and 2000, that it “will not send troops or administrative personnel to be based in Taiwan” after achieving what Beijing terms “reunification”.
Just ask Hong Kong how much those promises are worth.
If the PRC takes Taiwan through non-violent means, it will put Communist apparatchiks backed by its secret police and military in charge, end political and religious freedom, the way that it did in Hong Kong and any other territory it controls.
Beijing is run by murderous Communist tyrants and every word out of their mouth, whether it’s to us or anyone else, is a lie. Stop believing them.
