Let’s not discuss what else we can smell. Just the desperation that impelled Senator Elizabeth Warren to use the impeachment trial to launch this desperate campaign gambit.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) introduced a seemingly awkward dynamic into the impeachment proceedings when she asked if Republicans’ likely refusal to allow new witnesses in President Trump’s Senate trial would diminish trust in the chief justice or the Supreme Court.

“The question from Sen. Warren is for the House managers,” Supreme Court Justice John Roberts, who is presiding over the trial, began.

“At a time when large majorities of Americans have lost faith in government, does the fact that the chief justice is presiding over an impeachment trial in which Republican senators have thus far refused to allow witnesses or evidence contribute to the loss of legitimacy of the chief justice, the Supreme Court, and the Constitution?” he read.

And we were told the candidates wouldn’t be able to campaign during impeach.

This is obviously bad. It even falls on the side of trying to intimidate Roberts, not exactly a hard thing to do, during a trial. It’s grounds for action against Warren, that will obviously never take place, and between this and her pathetic attack against Alan Dershowitz, marks her as the senator behaving the worst during a trial in which a certain amount of decorum is expected of the “jury”.

Instead, Warren is burning her bridges as she falls to fourth place in the Democrat field.

The latest HarrisX poll has her in fourth place at 9%, behind Bloomberg at 11%. This is catastrophically bad news for her and a sign that her campaign is imploding badly. Her fundraising her fallen and she’s now being reduced to the desperate stunts of other failed candidates like Beto O’Rourke and Cory Booker. 

And, like their stunts, hers aren’t working.
