“Don’t know. Can’t imagine why. Remember the time they told infected people to vote in person?”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says people sick with the coronavirus and those quarantining after being exposed can safely vote in person if they follow the health agency’s recommendations. 

No, Thanksgiving though.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is recommending against travel for Thanksgiving. 

During a press briefing Thursday, Dr. Henry Walke, the CDC’s COVID-19 incident manager, said the agency is “recommending against travel during the Thanksgiving period.”

“The tragedy that could happen is that one of your family members is coming to this family gathering and they could end up severely ill, hospitalized or dying. And we don’t want that to happen,” he said, as COVID-19 cases tick up across the country.

So it’s possible for infected people to vote safely, but it’s impossible for uninfected people to have Thanksgiving safely.

When public health is blatantly about political priorities, then no one is going to take public health experts seriously.
