Illegals from Haiti have been temporarily permanently shielded from deportation under something called Temporary Protected Status which basically says no one can be sent back to Haiti because it’s so awful.
Trump is stepping up and shutting down some of the TPS exemptions leading to threats, lawsuits and warnings that without cheap welfare workers, our economy will crash and burn.
In a part of the country hit hard in the aftermath of the Great Recession, about 1,000 Haitians are believed to live in the Findlay area, a city 30 miles north-east of Lima, where one automotive company reportedly relies on immigrants for half its workforce.
Ninety miles to the south, in Springfield, about 15,000 Haitians have contributed to the city’s housing and financial revival. While the city’s property tax revenue was less than $800m in 2018, in 2023, it reached $1bn for the first time. Last year, it grew again, by 40%. While the property tax revenue increase has in part been fueled by rising property valuations, it also coincides with the growth in the number of tax-paying Haitians.
The Trump administration’s move to end TPS has led to worry among city officials in Springfield.
“They have strengthened our local economy by filling key roles in manufacturing and healthcare, even as their rapid arrival has strained public services and housing,” Springfield’s mayor, Rob Rue, a Republican, said in a statement.
As Bob Cherry previously noted, what they’re actually doing is depriving working-class Americans of jobs… at taxpayer expense.
From scarcely a few hundred in 2021, the number of Haitian immigrants in Springfield on Medicaid reached 8,000 by 2024; more than half of their population there.
While Haitians have prospered in Springfield others have not: unemployment rose from 3.7% in October 2023 to 5.1% by April 2024.
Importing migrants for cheap labor and financing that through taxation on America is like drilling a hole in a boat and then pretending that it’s flying instead of sinking.
“I’m worried for our workforces if there should be a mass exodus [of Haitian immigrants] because some of our plants and factories need them,” says Carla Thompson, a city council representative.
“People are making money from renting to them, providing services, employing them. All of that is going to go away and those were jobs that our plants and factories needed filled. If we go back to the same population that we had, how do those jobs get filled in the future?”
The same population… of Americans.
Whom does our government exist to serve exactly? The people ‘making money from renting to them’ or those making money from cheap labor… or Americans?
Ending TPS puts Americans first, but a whole bunch of folks in power want to see Americans place last.

It’s beginning to appear that all of our layers of government: federal, state and local are essentially giant money laundering scams. No wonder so many of our esteemed politicians, most of whom were of quite modest means when first installed, are becoming multi-multi millionaires.
12 billion for new submarines? No submarines were produced for this money. Where did the money go? Shoulder shrug. Maybe the same place the multi-billions for the “high speed rail” in California. Or the billions for vehicle charger stations. It was spent. It went somewhere. Most likely into the pockets of bureaucrats, politicos and contractors. And billions for post-Oct 7th Hamas from USAID?
Our constitutional-republic-democracy has morphed into an oligo-kleptocracy.
IN WHAT WORLD does it make sense to allow uneducated third world “refuges” to take JOBS that should be filled by entry/low level US Citizens and then PAY those same unemployed US Citizens to do nothing? And YES, they are paying RENTS – probably with US Taxpayers’ money – and spending in the economy – once again with welfare provided by those same US Taxpayers! Does anyone really believe that having THOUSANDS of “refuges” consuming housing makes housing more affordable to US Citizens? If you do then you’re stupid!
With all the illegals taking cash payments and also getting “Gov’t benefits” and the absolute disaster that was the biden bunglers’ reign of errors, the real estate market in the US has gone quite insane!
Four years ago my Brother sold a rental house to a long term renter. Today that house is “valued” at THREE TIMES the amount of his sale! It’s nothing more than a four room “mill village house” that is “valued” at what WAS a mid-level three bedroom, two bath house! And say nothing about the payment THEN with the lower interest rates vs now! I do believe when the 10 to 12 MILLION of the biden buddies are removed there will be a housing glut that will bring down prices. At that point, investors in BIG BUYERS will take a hit!

Can we ask WHY it is so awful? Does it have anything to do with the culture and people who live there?
Can these people be transformed by setting foot on our magic dirt? Are people endlessly fungible deracinated economic units? Is it the fault of westernkind that Haitians suffer so?
Why is their neighbor, with whom they share common African ancestry, an island, history and border unable to live with them?
Hard questions reveal hard truths without which we will be destroyed also.

For decades I had been warning about Santeria and Voodoo including animal sacrifice in their rituals, and Castro promoting them in Latin America as a substitute for religion. Now finally there was evidence, and the Democrats freaked out, and denied they were eating cats and dogs and Canada Geese.
