Colorado has decided that the only people who should be allowed to pick the Republican Party’s presidential nominee are Democrat legislators and judges.
And so the initial totalitarian overreach descends into grim farce.
Colorado GOP Chairman Dave Williams told The Colorado Sun on Tuesday night that if Trump isn’t on the ballot, the party would ask the state to cancel the Republican presidential primary. Instead, Republican voters would caucus to select delegates to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee next year.
But Colorado’s Democrat regime refuses to cancel the primary and let GOP voters caucus.
Williams told The Sun that if Trump isn’t on the ballot and the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office won’t cancel the Republican presidential primary, “we will ignore the primary” results.
Nope, that can’t be allowed to happen either.
The Colorado Secretary of State’s Office said the Colorado GOP couldn’t withdraw from the presidential primary and that it has doubts about whether the party can ignore the primary results.
It is the Republican primary, isn’t it? Except the current position of Colorado’s Dem rulers and the media is that Republicans can’t have anything to do with the Republican primary.
The Colorado Secretary of State is Jena Griswold: a leftist Dem funded by out-of-state donors who fundraised off Trump being a threat to democracy.
Jena Griswold she sent out a fundraising letter, falsely accusing President Trump of an “assault on democracy”
The actual threat to democracy, in an unsurprising twist, turned out to be the leftist.
And the current position of Colorado Democrats is that democracy means Republicans have no say in who is chosen to represent them.
This isn’t democracy dying in darkness. It’s democracy being beaten to death on stage under floodlights in front of an audience of millions.

Depravity and psychopathology and moral corruption now define and describe the woke leftist
oblivious democrat party and their elite leaders.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Cheryl Barker says
I hope no Constitutional purist bleats out the mantra, “We aren’t a democracy. We’re a republic.” No. We aren’t even a republic anymore. The communist takeover of Colorado will extend to other states rapidly.
Charlie Hall says
Jared Polis a communist? You failed PoliSci 101. It is very clear that Trump fomented an insurrection and that he is as constitutionally ineligible to be President as Ilhan Omar is.
Domenic Pepe says
Political Depravity and psychopathology can manifest themselves in many different ways.
None being good.
NAVY ET1 says
I’d like to say that I have a hard time believing this will stand, but unfortunately I’ve seen a lot of totalitarianism under the Biden regime. The most interesting aspect of this for me is self-fulfilling prophecy on the part of the administration, for while the conservative right has never been a threat to Democrats other than at the ballot box, each additional totalitarian step taken by those who would trample freedom leads us ever further into becoming the “existential threat” that the administration has deemed us to be.
Robert says
According to the Constitution Article 14 section 3 Trump must have been convicted of a crime of engaging in insurrection or rebellion. The Congress brought those impeachment charges, but the Senate disallowed the impeachment. Trump was not convicted, hence the Colorado Supreme Courts ruling has no merit.

That’s exactly what fascism and dictatorship looks like.
Charlie Hall says
January 6 is what Fascism and Dictatorship look like. It was the US equivalent of Mussolini’s March on Rome. And that is precisely why the Colorado Supreme Court said that Trump can’t be on the ballot. But most writers and commenters here are okay with a Fascist Dictator wannabe who fomented an insurrection.
Luca Brasi says
LOL! TDS has rotted whatever brain you have. By your twisted logic, the riots in Portland by Antifa, the riots in Baltimore by BLM and Antifa, the riots in Kenosha by BLM and Antifa were all insurrections. Oddly enough, there were very few arrests and no one in the MSM considered those events insurrections………Trump has never been charged for insurrection, let alone convicted of same. Colorado’s Supreme Court has over stepped its authority and will be slapped down by the SCOTUS. As a side note, using your logic, Michigan’s Supreme Court could ban Biden from appearing on the ballot for violating his oath to protect our borders by his allowing the millions of illegals to flood into this country.

True winners never need to cheat. Those who cheat will never really win. The voters who have wisdom know the difference.
Charlie Hall says
President Samuel J. Tilden would disagree with you.

World@70 says
The seven-member Colorado Supreme Court divided 4-3 on the ruling.
This seems unlikely with all judges being Dems, appointed by Dem governors and also likely all are never Trumpers. I could see them saying, if we vote 7-0 then everyone will know it’s fixed, so 3 of us have to vote not to ban.
Domenic Pepe says
I think you got it right.
A ridiculous 7 – 0 ruling would have exposed the entire Colorado Supreme Court as the woke leftist fools
they really are in fact. The farce would have been too obvious to all. So a contrived 4 – 3 ruling was invoked
in order to give the appearance of thoughtful democratic forces at work.
I think I need to get my vomit pail out.

To be fair … how can we know? … He used to be ‘reasonable’ and he seemed to be posting from the UK with a Euro-perspective, which is different but too different.
However … he’s been off the rails due to Trump Derangement Syndrome that has only gotten worse and worse over the years.
Maybe he’s gone through psychotic transition? … I don’t know.

Come on, Daniel …
… this has been going on for decades …
How else do we explain why the GOP selects nothing but cowards and collaborators for the general elections? …
… And if a patriot gets through … all of his sins – real or imaginary – become the subject of gossip, litigation, charges, and often personal destruction …
… but the traitors(R) are never treated that way – they’re almost as immune as the KKKrats.
The difference today … the Left no longer fears a vulgar display of power.

YUP …. The RINO republicans have been screwing America up for almost as long as the woke leftist

The multiple comments by a single individual on this thread indicate that you should impose a daily limit on comments from individuals on a given thread, stopping at about four. Otherwise it turns the thread into a bughouse. There are a lot of people with too much time on their hands.

August 1, 1876 Colorado became a state.
April 9, 1865 Civil War ends.
They have some nerve.
Charlie Hall says
Colorado did not bother to have an election in 1876. They simply appointed Republican electors. That was the previous time that someone tried to steal a US Presidential election, and that year it was successful. The next time was January 6, 2021, and fortunately the attempt failed.

Biden is fond of saying that today’s Republican Party is not the party of your grandfather. Today’s Democratic Party is not even the party of your older sibling. They have moved far to the left in a short time.
Grey Beard says
Maybe a battleground state will advance a notch or two in favor of Trump because of this farce in Colorado.

NEWSFLASH
A local judge in El Monte CA has ruled that the ‘Democrat party’ in Colorado is over – meaning, no Dems are allowed in the state anymore. They must all vacate by next Tuesday or they will be held in contempt.
John Sweet says
All seven justices on the Colorado Supreme Court were appointed by Democrats and they still couldn’t get three of them to agree to turning he US into a banana republic.
RAM says
The easy way is for the Colorado judges to pick Republican primary candidates directly, so the obviously racist Republican voters won’t ruin democracy.
