If you think Governor Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio’s pandemic leadership was awesome, wait till you see their race riot leadership.

De Blasio On George Floyd Protests: “The NYPD Has To Do Better”

Mayor Bill de Blasio is promising a full independent review of Friday night’s protests in Brooklyn, after seeing videos of demonstrations showing protestors shoved and beaten without provocation by NYPD officers, which he found “deeply disturbing.”

“We’ve seen some videos that do not reflect the philosophy of this city; the values of this city; the values of this administration,” said de Blasio at a news conference on Saturday morning. “That is not neighborhood policing, and we will not accept any of that behavior.”

De Blasio’s comments came shortly before Governor Andrew Cuomo announced he’ll be asking state Attorney General Letitia James to launch her own investigation into “all actions and procedures” during the protests.

Also it’s Trump’s fault that his political allies are attacking police.

“There’s a poison of structural racism,” de Blasio said. “It haunts the lives of people of color everyday in this country in this city.”

He said Trump has fanned the flames of that discord since taking office.

“The President of the United States helped to create this atmosphere, and that’s the tragedy here,” the mayor said.

And if you think De Blasio is awesome, wait for his replacement.

“We cannot have the heavy police presence that we saw at the outset before anyone was outside,” said Public Advocate Jumaane Williams during a separate Saturday press conference. “There was a wall of police that were here … it is an imposing position to be in. We are dealing with people who are grieving and who are angry. The response to that cannot be a show of force.”

Mayoral candidates also condemned the police for not keeping the peace.

“The NYPD should be easing tensions, not pepper spraying state legislators and shoving peaceful protestors,” Council Speaker Corey Johnson tweeted.

“Last night was a complete and total failure of leadership,” Comptroller Scott Stringer tweeted.

When you don’t have a show of force in front of “angry” rioters, then cities burn. And so do cops.

A woman was charged with the attempted murder of NYPD cops after allegedly hurling a Molotov cocktail into a marked, occupied police van in Brooklyn, authorities said.

The device did not ignite, and all of the officers got out of the van safely, police said.

Samantha Shader, 27, of Catskill, NY, tossed the incendiary device through a rear window of the van at the corner of Eastern Parkway and Washington Avenue around 10:40 p.m., police said.

Shader then allegedly bit an officer on the leg as she was taken into custody, police said.

She faces four counts of attempted murder of a police officer, attempted arson, assault on a cop, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.

The NYPD does need to do better.
