The Great Coronavirus Jailbreak is underway. Lefty governments are freeing “non-violent” offenders who are as non-violent as this guy.
The violent inmates the de Blasio administration wanted freed amid the coronavirus crisis included the man accused of killing Bronx FDNY EMT Yadira Arroyo and the two men accused of taking part in a Queens robbery that led to the friendly-fire death of NYPD Det. Brian Simonsen, law enforcement sources and officials said.
Christopher Ransom, 28, Jagger Freeman, 26, and Jose Gonzalez, 28, were initially on a list of inmates — complied by the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice — to be considered for release from Rikers Island in order to stem the spread of the virus there, sources and officials said.
We care about our EMTs and health care workers so much that we can applaud them in public, and then release their killers.
But criminals or, as lefties now call them, the “justice-involved”, are a major civil rights cause.
De Blasio spokeswoman Avery Cohen denied to The Post that Ransom, Freeman or Gonzalez was ever on a list of inmates to be released from Rikers Island amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The mayor never asked for them to be released, nor did anyone in the de Blasio administration, Cohen claimed.
And we can totally believe anything he says.
Here’s the creature that de Blasio and his criminal justice reform jailbreakers wanted freed.
A Bronx court hearing for Jose Gonzalez, the suspect in the March 2017 murder of Paramedic Yadira Arroyo, ended abruptly Aug. 15 when he became enraged and had to be forcibly removed from the courtroom.
Ms. Arroyo, 44, a single mother of five, had 14 years on the job when Mr. Gonzalez carjacked her ambulance and drove over the Paramedic and dragged her body until he slammed into a parked car. He was apprehended at the scene by a Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Officer on his way to work.
After he was removed from the courtroom he was heard yelling at his lawyer, “I’ll kill you!”
Meanwhile The Atlantic is pushing for more jailbreaks.
