Joke or not a joke? As usual, the answer is it’s a joke, but it’s not remotely funny.
Rep. Gregory Meeks, a worthless hack, now serving as Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee weighed in on the Libertad protests in Cuba which blames them on President Trump.
It takes a special talent to put out a worse statement on the Cuban protests than Senator Bernie Sanders, but Meeks, or whichever DSA member he outsourced the job to managed to do it.
The statement by Meeks fails to actually mention the Cuban regime that the people are protesting against, but manages to repeatedly condemn President Trump.
“Cubans are facing profound hardship because of the health and economic impacts of COVID-19, the entrenched culture of corruption and mismanagement among Cuba’s leadership, and the strict sanctions callously imposed by the Trump Administration,” Meeks falsely claims. Then he calls on “Biden to help alleviate the suffering in Cuba by rescinding the Trump era sanctions and offering additional humanitarian and vaccine assistance to the Cuban people.”
This is weapons-grade political cynicism that you would expect from Pravda or RT. It’s an almost breathtaking level of propaganda that’s not coming from AOC’s office, but the leading House Democrat voice on foreign affairs.
Putting Meeks in as Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee was an entirely foreseeable disaster because he’s been a longtime shill for the Communist regime. Meeks went to Cuba as part of a delegation and lobbied to end the embargo. But he went to Cuba back in the nineties and met with Fidel Castro. And he went right on going.
Then there was Hugo Chavez and Venezuela.
The Democrats put a Biden ally who is a shill for the Communist regime as Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. And dug an even deeper hole with Latino voters.
